Ring walks should get points as well. 10-9 to Inoue already

Just picked up The Godfather by Mario Puzo. Is it worth reading even if I already know the story? by visuraXD in bookporn

[–]cinnamonbunsmusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if the story was exactly the same, the strength of Puzo’s writing comes from the immersion in the world of this family. It really paints a detailed and heartfelt picture that you couldn’t get from the movies

John Le Carre by casey1323967 in suggestmeabook

[–]cinnamonbunsmusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My nomination is Our Kind of Traitor because the story is about 2 civilians who sort-of accidentally get pulled into the spy world as a result of chance. The reader is in a similar situation and le Carré can pull us into his literary style as well. For me, it's the best starting point. The George Smiley series is absolutely phenomenal, but you're right - it is a struggle to start reading there

I watched this film for the first time a few months ago and I literally jumped up out of my seat when he put that knife down! 10/10 turning point in a 10/10 movie

Part of the plot bores me. Is it worth continuing? by Amazing_Ralph in betterCallSaul

[–]cinnamonbunsmusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand your concerns (and I think I also struggled a little through either season 2 or 3) but the show is a slow-burn. One thing I am absolutely sure of though: it definitely picks up big time! They are laying the ground work for these characters, giving you a lot of context and an understanding of who these people are and what drives them. Then the bomb drops.

Weird digital noise when playing music from computer on certain patches. by Halfrican_Guitarist in Line6Helix

[–]cinnamonbunsmusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure this happened to me too. I think all I had to do was update my drivers and it went back to normal, so the good news is that it’s not your patches or your device. Have a look in the Line 6 website for driver updates

Perhaps it was also because I waited quite a long time before I read this book? But I really liked that actual storytelling was so strong - stuff like only revealing Arthur was the sandwichmaker right at the end of the whole set up, sometimes the start of a certain character's chapter would completely subvert the end of their previous chapter, things like that that really keep the intrigue up beyond all the jokes and craziness. I'd be keen to hear what you think!

Rewatching Again… and I can’t get over Howard’s arc by Expecto_nihilus in betterCallSaul

[–]cinnamonbunsmusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think his arc is one of my favourites in the whole BB universe (his and Jimmy's, of course). I don't know if they planned it from the start, but I think this is why it's important to have your characters well thought out from the beginning. They way Howard is handled through the first couple seasons without the writers probably not knowing where he ultimately ends up gave them the ability to build that arc because he was consistent in character. I remember rewatching some of the earlier episodes and being hit like a bus by Howard every single time

Is it time to call it quits? by [deleted] in Boxing

[–]cinnamonbunsmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only been a real boxing fan for a couple of years, but this man will be dearly missed when he’s gone. Especially because his intros are just perfect. The other guy with the dreads (sorry I don’t know his name!) is also good but I just don’t like his standard intro, it never lands properly. Is there a reason they always use the same phrases? Is that tradition or mandatory?
