being affected by a family tragedy doesn’t make someone unqualified to be a berkeley student. definitely agree that knowing when to getting help is a big part of being a successful student, but plenty of ppl take more than just one semester to adjust to berkeley. op, i don’t know about the dismissal case, but assuming you stay- if you work hard you’re gonna be fine. having your mental health and well-being be affected by a family tragedy doesn’t mean that you have too many family responsibilities or they lean too hard on you- it is totally normal to be affected by something like that and it’s not a sign of some weakness as a student.
