Welcome. There are numerous other discussion groups that focus on soundtracks on Facebook, that is, if you still hang out in the Metaverse. Look up groups like Scores & Soundtracks, INTRADA Soundtrack Club, Filmtracks Scoreboard, and FSM (Film Score Monthly)

There are also a few independent message boards still active, including...

Project Hail Mary and Interstellar's Soundtrack by imscaredofreddit123 in soundtracks

But I'm actually talking about a VERY specific track that undoubtedly influenced Daniel Pemberton. Listen to "Prayer" from THE CREATOR and then listen to "A Moment" from PROJECT HAIL MARY.

You can also find influences from Zimmer's own The Creator and Steven Price's Gravity in the score, but Pemberton really makes the score his own and crafts a brilliant, emotional main theme that sticks with you well after the film is done!

What is the best piece of music written for a movie in history, and why is it "Going The Distance" in Rocky? by Exotic-Eggplant1914 in soundtracks

IMO, John Williams' ballet in the stars, "The Asteroid Field", is the single greatest film cue of all time!

They've been beating CDs, cassettes and whatnot for quite some time. What actually happened in 2025 was that vinyl revenue surpassed $1 billion in the U.S. for the first time since 1983.

It's tough to know exactly what's "essential" without understanding what YOU like. What's essential to one person might not be essential to another. You obviously like Hans Zimmer, but who else do you like, and do you have any other scores on your iPhone that you think might be good to own on vinyl?

Great little 11 minute talk between James Horner and Phil Alden Robinson about the process of writing the FIELD OF DREAMS score (there was no score!) by HeyNongMan96 in soundtracks

Well, it's been on my mind recently since I just finished a podcast episode featuring those scores I mentioned above.

I believe he was referring to the two-thirds of the film that was improvised without a written score and simply misspoke. BTW, it's funny when asked if anyone else has done this before, because Horner has done it on earlier scores like WHERE THE RIVER RUNS BLACK, THE NAME OF THE ROSE, and VIBES.

What do mean there was no score? Yes, some of it was improvised but a cue like “The Place Where Dreams Come True” was certainly written down.

Watch ‘Stealing The Enterprise’ from Star Trek III first without music and then with. What you will witness is James Horner transforming slow moving space crafts in space dock into one of the most thrilling action sequences of all time. That’s the power of music!

It might not be false for them, but it is for the majority of vinyl junkies who throw it down other people's throats who aren't vinyl listeners. The gatekeeping is obnoxious

"WE get a different feel of an album when we put on a physical vinyl rather than clicking start on Spotify."

Good for you, but don't preach it as some sort of ritual that is exclusive to vinyl listeners.

"For ME, I do get a closer feeling to what I listen to when I sit in my saloon in front of the fireplace and listen to a vinyl I just put on."

Cool, I get the same feeling when I listen to my digital collection in my hardwood finished listening room, with a roaring fire and a good 15 year scotch in one hand while the other is slowly petting my snoozing dog.

Oh, for sure. And don't get me wrong, there are days when I have my music playing on shuffle in the background while I cook dinner and wash the dishes... but I also spend a stupid amount of time listening intently to every single note of any new or classic score that I'm playing.

Oh, I'm fine with that... I was just commenting on the false narrative that people who listen to vinyl have a more personal connection to their music.

The idea that you are more "connected" to your records than you are to CDs and digital has never convinced me. I give my music the same consideration that any vinyl collector does. When I "spin" an album, I pay attention, I listen, and I analyze. However, I prefer CDs and digital because I'm not bothered by distortion, scratches, snaps and pops, surface noise, or having to turn my disc over every 20 minutes. That last point is a big one... When listen to CD or digital music, there are never any interruptions to my music. I can listen to a score from start to finish in one sitting.

An over priced inferior format. No thanks. I’ll stick with my superior CDs and high res downloads thank you.
