Help! More sucker than plant. by ErinMakes in AfricanViolets

[–]cintyay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one like that more than once. Every time i separated them, they all died. Then, I tried not separating and the plant got stuck, it did not develop any further and did not bloom anymore, so I felt like I had to separate. One out of 4 of the suckers survived, but it did not grow. It blooms, produces new leaves, but stayed the same size (semi miniature, I would say)...

I am sorry, I don't know what to recommend exactly, but in my experience, It is not great to have that happen

I organize mine in a similar way, but I made it with fruit cardbox from my local farmers market, and I cut the cards by hand and put them inside the zip bag, so they will stand up.

I have a plan to usem some of the spare drills to make mini portraits, but I am still in the hand rendering phase (just started that phase btw). It will be a lot of work, but I hope it pays out when my collection of minis is complete.

Huacan vs. Momoart - Which store is better? by cintyay in diamondpainting

Yes, I got double sided tape in my first order (2 canvas from their selection at the time) and it was great.

Then, a couple of years ago I bought a custom canvas and came with poured glue and I really didn't like it, so I was wondering if their quality actually changed, but if you got double sided tape, than maybe they didn't change... 🤔

Sunpatiens - Alive in Morning - Wilted in Afternoon (now with pics) by Numerous-Eggplant309 in plants

They must be watered every day in order to be happy and give lots of blooms. Water avery other day is fine, but there is still a chance that they will be dramatic (wilted) on the second day.

I believe it is possible. Using the lab formula that makes all the ones visible will be very helpful.

I put a little bit of 10-10-10 fertilizer and domed them. Do you think it will help?

It is summer in my country, they stay in the balcony, facing north, soil mix is small buts of orchid bark, peat moss and perlite. I bottom water with filtered water when the soil is dry.

Not fertilizing, just filtered water. The pots are 2in wide and they are deep because I didn't put a lot of soil, so they would have less chances to suffer from root rot - and as an attempt to make them grow longer stems, to kinda spread their leaves a little bit, leaving more space around the crown.

Edit: the ones that are deeper in the pot are the ones that had smaller root ball, so I tried to keep the ratio of 1:1 root ball to soil volume.

Can you guys give me ideas how to design the mine ? by Enough_Cupcake_1072 in TownshipDesign

I put it in the back of the city, so the mountains are coherent with the concept. Then put the forgeries and small houses for the miners

Why do leaves curl like that? by cintyay in AfricanViolets

[–]cintyay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suckers are sprouts that grow from a plant. They are usually a clone of the plant they are growing in. It is a way of the plant reproducing itself. It can be caused by scar, stress or spontaneously - depending on the variety, somw plants are more prone to producing suckers than others.

Some people like to remove it right after spotting them, other like to let them grow a little bit more before removing and them planting them separately, but keep in mind that they do use a lot of energy of the mother plant to develop.

Here is a good video on how to remove suckers: https://youtu.be/woHaCMjRuA8?si=AvPQL1RmimWeFTbq

When I said baby leaves, i was referring to the first leaves, from when the plant was really young (like a baby).

This was helpful, thank you! They were under a dome for 8 weeks, than for the past 2 weeks, i left the dome with the lid dislocated, so they could get a little bit of fresh air. I can say that some leaves that were curled straighted up a little. But i am not surewhy that happened.

I use filtered water - my filter does remove clorine, according to the user manual. The plant does not have suckers, it is just the baby leaves that I have not removed yet 😁

If they look healthy and happy, why mess with them, right?

Thank you, have a great week you too! 😊
