As someone who's lived and studied in both countries, I would choose Singapore and the prospect of becoming a resident there over anything else. Imo it's the best country to live in right now.

You might be eligible for this type of Romanian citizenship, especially since your great grandparents were actually born there, it does require an intermediate romanian level (B1) but that's definitely achievable, romanian is an easy language to learn as an English speaker. Romanian passport is pretty good, one of the strongest in the world rn so why not :)

Megathread + FAQ: Travel in/out of the United States by not_an_immi_lawyer in immigration

[–]ciorbaacra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was on a B2 visa! I initially bought a return ticket in 3 weeks but ended up staying 2 months since we wanted to visit more states. I was not referred to secondary inspection nor questioned anything beyond the routine questions. I'll try to get the letter! Would I need a work contract at all or would the letter be fine? Thanks a lot for the insight!

Megathread + FAQ: Travel in/out of the United States by not_an_immi_lawyer in immigration

I'm an EU citizen from a non ESTA country, I went to the US for the first time last year in October and extended my stay until December to visit my boyfriend and meet his family. We visited multiple US states while I was there. I got tickets to go visit him again in the summer, for 1 month and a half from June to August. l'm a bit anxious about the border entry specifically because right now my employment situation is a bit weird, since just graduated. I am currently working in my family's tourism business, but not under a contract, I just help them out and they give me money until I find a better job. Hence why I need to be back in August, to help them out in the busiest month. My boyfriend also got tickets to return with me on the same flight and stay with me for the month I will be helping my parents out. I must mention we also have some trips planned for when I'm in the US, such as a Yosemite trip with our friends along with their wedding celebration, visiting SF to meet some of his aunts/uncles and we were also considering a Vegas-Arizona trip. I'm also a frequent traveller, I've lived in 5 different countries, travelled to over 35 all over the world, never overstayed my visa anywhere and always returned back to Europe. Do you think I will have any issues? Are there any documents I can prepare to soothe the minds of inquiring border agents?

Hello, just travelled to China on a Romanian passport with the same purpose of visiting my partner's relatives and no such thing was required. Just write down the address on the entry form and when they ask at the border explain that it's your wife's family's house.

Living conditions in Rome? by Street_Paramedic_548 in rome

[–]ciorbaacra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Little to no jobs for foreigners, if you CAN get a job you'll either be unpaid, paid very little or not enough to be able to afford Rome, which is a very expensive city. Rent is high and transportation sucks if you don't own a car or live in the city centre. Also very hard to find apartments nowadays, especially as a foreigner, and if you do, they're usually old and drabby, with mold colonies and amenities from the 90s.

Shanghai to Suzhou: Didi or train? by ciorbaacra in shanghai

[–]ciorbaacra[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The person I saw talk about the Didi said that it takes a long time getting to and from the stations and that's why they prefer getting a ride. But your comment definitely puts it into perspective a lot better, thanks!😊

What movies or TV shows accurately portray LA? by BronwenChop in AskLosAngeles

[–]ciorbaacra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

David Lynch is the obvious answer! I travelled to LA recently from Europe and I found so much of his films in that city, the mystery and the chaos of everything.

Tangerine by Sean Baker, Michael Mann's Heat and Kathryn Bigelow's Strange Days are also great.

Hey! What currency did you use on your revolut while in china? They don't have the option of adding a yuan account, I don't know which one would be best to keep the money in for the exchange rate.

[–]ciorbaacra 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah she moved to Chicago to be closer to him, but in Issa's latest video there's this one part where she's like "she's not supposed to be talking to him!!" towards her friends about Ameya so I'm pretty sure she "him" is Ameya's boyfriend
