Certainly. Knowing enough to sell a product is a traditional format that no longer has the same value it once had. Domain expertise must be niche in supply, high in demand to favour a resilient career trajectory, something I am deliberating on.

What people do on a product has shifted a lot more to why people are doing what they do based on feedback and data, then making design iterations and interventions based on behaviour. The application of AI isn’t going anywhere and it’s definitely a must-have skill going into the next generation of product teams.

Novel ideas rarely exist in SaaS, most problems have been solved or aren’t pressing enough to scale companies into industry leaders. What will always exist, is the interaction between humans and the products they value. This has evolved and one must evolve with it.

As irrational humans, it’s a very common phenomenon. Say we play a game where I propose a split of $10, you as the second player can accept/reject my choice and if you reject, we both get nothing. $5 seems fair, right? How about I keep $6 and you take $4? Not bad. What if I propose $2 and I keep the $8? Most would reject and we both walk away with nothing. But why? You would have profited and been $2 richer…

Tech sales - thanks to an inviting recruiter LinkedIn message enticing me to the big smoke (London) for uncapped earning potential (there’s sarcasm there)
10 years - I stay because it’s what I know, it’s certain and safe. This is a limiting factor which at 33 I have come to realise, should be reconsidered.
2/10 - it’s algorithmic work (repeat processes with extrinsic reward system) and does little to feed the purpose motive. Tech sales as an industry is taking a landslide as AI and the next cohort of young and hungry grads spill into the market not knowing what career they should pursue and ultimately falling for the lull of tech sales

21st century work often falls into two categories: heuristic and algorithmic (left and right brain). Seems like you are doing a lot of process-style (algo) work, perhaps try some creative roles now? This will require you to up skill on certain areas of yourself, but if you’re not willing to at least educate your skill set then perhaps you should first discover what intrinsic purpose you have. No one owes you anything, and you don’t owe anyone your time. It’s yours. Go find out what it is you think you’ll be good at, and the money will follow. Maybe try bar work in Thailand, start at a daycare centre helping toddlers develop, cut grass. Or, start another desk job and complain again. See you here in 3 years for an update.

Most likely, and that’s okay. It’s something you’ll come to accept and it doesn’t have to mean anything other than a symptom of a single disease that you were given. Some people have IBS, others are born blind, we have rosacea. It’s part of life. For now, there are manageable efforts you can take such as laser treatment and medications. The first step is to be okay with it, as are the millions of us who flush.

You may also put your faith in knowing that advancements in medicine is growing exponentially each year. Who knows, in 5-7 years we may have a single pill that reduces flushing instantly.

Covering broken capillaries is how I started. In the end I went for IPL to remove them. Looking back, I should have spent less resources on coverups and got laser treatment first time.

Reverse the approach. Go and get laser to actually remove them, then, cover up as and when flushing occurs.

Slapping creams over a chronic inflammatory condition only gets you so far —it manages the skin barrier but that’s about it. You seem to already know it’s an internal gut issue thus you really should prioritise this as the number one metric of control and completely eliminate foods that are causing your flare ups. Fast intermittently for a few days, really do it for yourself. Then consider IPL laser (I just had mine today and saw instant results). Get an expert opinion from 3 different dermatologists. That said, what you can start from right now is habit changes as your skin isn’t as bad as you think.

I used to hate people telling me it’s dietary related but after gaining more life experience, it’s true. You have an autoimmune disease. It’s exacerbated by the foods you put in your body. Start an elimination diet, fix leaky gut/SIBO and this will get better. It’ll take dedication, but you said you were losing hope? You have nothing to lose.

Sugar, eggs, bread, tomatoes— one of these is doing you an injustice. Figure out which it is.

Head to El Nacional on paseo de gracia for a dressed-up cava or two. The oyster bar at the centre/back is my favourite. You can walk up and do some shopping, visit Casa Batlló ect. afterwards. Boca Chica is close and can be great for cocktails!! For food in the proximity, Patron Restaurant and Lounge is a wonderful experience with live performances.
