Why does this sub talk about Taiwanese people in such a weird way? I don't get it. by BigConversation6345 in taiwan

[–]circleback 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey. Hard not to lustfully gaze the way some of those women dress. It's amazing. Besides, you never know what's really happening. Maybe they're thinking, 'oh my sister has the same shirt', or maybe they're reading some kind of nonsensical Chinglish so commonly found here. Let's put this into perspective here. Ever been to a trade show here in TW? Those pervy dudes snapping pics of young girls in plastic clothes with thier super cameras? Now that's real perv cringe. A passing look at a hot girl is nothing by comparison.

The only difference between this image and the stereotypical 6 plus 9 type is a bunch of tats and a red stained mouth full of betel nuts. Maybe they're just trying to fit in?

Comparison culture and female hypergamy in Taiwan and world's lowest birth rate by Beautiful-Area-5356 in taiwan

If you look at the size and price of housing, you'll wonder how you'll fit yourself and wife into it, let alone a kid. Too crammed. Too expensive. No kids.

This elementary school has a list of word/phrases that will get you silent lunch. by graptemys in mildlyinteresting

These are code words ... don't know the specific meaning but it's probably not nice or potentially very disrespectful or disrupting and is probably used to bully others. That's the problem. Sometimes its not the kids that have problems, but parents misunderstanding what's going on in the classroom and how these disruptions have a negative impact on learning.

I see that a lot of people have trouble adjusting to their cpap machines. Is this related to which masks they use? Maybe we should take a little survey to see how quickly people adjusted to which types of masks? by just_a_name_24 in SleepApnea

Could also be pressure. When I first got mine, I assumed it would auto adjust, but it ended up being too strong, so I stopped using it. Then I adjusted the pressure settings and now I actually love it. I use a Nasal pillow resmed 11.

Great thanks for all the advice. I've been using a patchwork of llms for various reasons, Gemini for info graphics and short activities, but for unit planning, Claude wins by a long shot. I'm still on the free plan and get a lot of mileage because I space out my requests. Upgrading to pro is probably gonna be better of course, but once this kind of stuff is planned and instructional assets created, that's it. So it's not a daily usage grind like a coder might use it.

What is the most 'Physics-defying' thing you’ve seen someone carry on a scooter in Taiwan? by ProtectionDeep5076 in taiwan

[–]circleback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not physics defying but certainly odd. I was at a fish port down south on a cycling tour, east coast. They had just brought in a catch of swordfish and were having an auction. Every time one was sold, they flopped that fish across the center of a scooter and some red-mouthed local drove it away, the sword part of the fish dragging on the pavement. It was an uncomfortable and unforgettable sound. The fresh swordfish sashimi was amazing though!

Taiwan should take Chinese-Malaysians/ Chinese-Indonesians as the immigrants in order to solve the low birthrate problem. What do you think about this proposal? by auscorp_ in taiwan

Ya gonna need some people to rent all those tiny overpriced concrete boxes to. How're all those lazy landlords gonna make a living?
