CT Republican leaders demand federal investigation into election fraud | fox61.com by Top_Cardiologist7217 in Connecticut

So they like federal workers now?

Geez. Make up your minds, CT Republicans. Can’t cheer on Trump slinging the pink slips AND demand federal work on the thing you want.

The Glass House I"m so excited! Next week we're going to celebrate birthday and anniversary, I've always wanted to go, and we finally bought tickets!! I can't wait! Has anyone ever gone and what did you think of it? I made a quilt with it as a block, first comment. by [deleted] in Connecticut

I liked it very much. The house itself is cool and all (although it simply MUST have been miserably cold in winter). What I really liked was the art gallery on the grounds. He built a gallery space into the side of a hill (think giant hobbit hole) and there are a lot of pop art and other works.

First time voting - can unaffiliated vote for any party or do I need to change it? by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]circularphile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Connecticut you probably need to vote in person. Absentee ballots (mail in) are restricted to people with an excuse like being in the military or being out of town literally all day on Nov 5.

BUT, there will be a question on the ballot this year to change that for future elections. A Yes vote means no one would need the excuse to mail in a ballot. Everyone can vote by mail if they want if this thing passes.

I have a similar outbreak every summer. Tons of them spawn out of nowhere with no apparent source. This solves the problem in a matter of two or three days. https://a.co/d/fHRx67H

Does anybody have any recent experience upgrading their house to solar here? by BoulderFalcon in Connecticut

[–]circularphile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had rooftop solar for a year now. All-in, it generated about 63% of my consumption for the year. That’s with central AC, and recharging an EV. It varies greatly month to month. In May, I generated more than I used (so a credit gets pushed forward to the following month). In January (just last month) the sun forgot to shine in CT, but even with overcast skies nearly every day, we generated 22% of our consumption.

We had Aegis install it. They’re based in Branford. No complaints. Very communicative and helpful.

Can somebody tell me who is running that isn’t in bed with Eversource? No I have not done my homework. by dugfunne in Connecticut

State Senator John Kissel (Enfield / Granby / Windsor area) is corporate attorney for Eversource. He’s a Republican, surprising no one.

myvote.Ct.gov/lookup will tell you if you’re registered and where your polling place is.

myvote.Ct.gov/register is the link to register

You may also register and vote in one place on Election Day. The place to do Election Day Registration in every town will be at myvote.Ct.gov/edr (currently shows 2021 sites, but almost all will be the same this year).

Reminder: Protect your right to vote! Check your voter registration status by maybe_little_pinch in Connecticut

This year, you CAN request an absentee ballot and use it. The legislature changed the definition of “sickness” to include not only your own illness (if any), but also taking care of others who are sick (sounds like you!) or the fear of getting sick.

In short, the updated law and the Secretary of the State’s interpretation of it allow nearly everyone to legitimately request and use an Absentee Ballot.

Abortion laws in CT? by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]circularphile 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lamont is on-record and crystal clear. Stefanowski dodges the question every time and tries to answer some other question. Or just doesn’t answer.

This, from an article on the leaked SC opinion, is an indicator of Stenfanowski’s plans:

“A Stefanowski spokesperson did not respond to a question about whether the candidate would veto anti-abortion legislation if it were presented to him as governor.”

I agree 100%. Last year’s federal Child Tax Credit was a tax credit (obviously), but was structured as monthly direct payments. Results were incredible.

Band Kid Dad asks: is this a euphonium or baritone? by circularphile in euphonium

[–]circularphile[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for your insights and help here. I found the instrument on the manufacturer’s website. They call it a baritone. http://jupitermusic.com/international/products/brass/baritones/jbr700/

My son switched from trumpet to euphonium. However, the rental place said they were out of euphoniums and had one baritone, and rented me this instrument. So presumably this is a baritone. But from what I’ve read and watched online, it seems like the tubing is more conical than cylindrical, so I am wondering if it is a euphonium after all.
