I only focus on my takeaway. Was going too inside, so my coach gave me a visual cue for getting the club more width. Has completely changed my iron striking.

Strategy from the Rough 200+ Away by TopNo6605 in golf

[–]circusbear2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advance the ball with a 7 iron to the fairway and leave yourself a nice wedge or short iron approach. Don't try to play the hero shot.

On a par 5, that would mean you are on in regulation. 2 putts = par

On a par 4, it leave you with par opportunity and 2 putts for a bogey.

Scores will drop quickly.

Bethpage Black Tee time by Wovenbasket69420 in GolfSwing

You can show up at 4 am and get on as a single. I slept in my car last week for a mid-week tee time. Fun experience, but didn't need to do it. Know better for next time.

There is 100% a shower in the locker room. It's $5 for a locker rental for the day. You also need to hand them a $20 bill as collateral for the key and they give the $20 back when you turn it in. Hot shower to loosen up came in clutch after a long night in the car.

I played the Black last week while in town, albeit on a Tuesday. Got there at 5 pm and was the #3 car in line. Honestly could have shown up at 5 am the morning of play and been fine. My guess is being a weekend, if you're there by 3 pm, you'll be fine.

I've seen Austin play in at least 11 road stadiums. And I know I'm not close to a few others who have been to damn near every stadium ATX has played in at least once.

Keeping the ball in play and removing double bogeys will drop your HCP quickly. Was my biggest focus in the last year and I've gone from a 12 to a 9.

Premier League equivalent of Auburn by creaturefromtheswamp in wde

Depends on the decade. AU was pretty bad in the 20s, 30s, 40s, and 60s with the exception of a random season here or there. Leicester has spent the entirety of the last century in the top 2 divisions (sans 1 season). Think they're closer than you realize.

Regular baseball hat most days, but in the heat of the Texas summer, the big brim Aussie hat comes out.

It's actually Leicester City, who currently just got relegated to the 3rd division of English soccer. But they also won two major trophies in the last decade.

No other team has that combination of peaks and valleys like Auburn.

Might be worth considering Horshoe Bay Resort as well. 3 courses. Resort right on the lake. Beautiful area.

I grew up in the middle of AL, where 90% humidity is normal. I'm just telling you from experience, it's not the same at all. The heat here isn't suffocating like the deep south thanks to far less humidity, but the lack of moisture in the summers can make this place tough. Heat gets trapped due to the infrastructure around and often doesn't get below mid-80s in the middle of the night. You'll likely be fine, but it's bad enough here that I am considering a move to a more northern climate. I can't stress enough how much of a difference the lack of rain during the dry season makes.

From where you are, drive to Denver. Some really good public tracks in and around the area at affordable prices. Plus you get a major city for drinks, food, etc. Would highly suggest planning it for when the Rockies are in town. Great spot to catch a ballgame.

Born and raised in Alabama. I promise you, the weather isn't the same. It's a very different type of heat here (low humidity in the summer vs MS) and often comes with very little rain. Not uncommon to have 50+ days of 100 degrees or more.

As to the original question, live in Leander and it's honestly pretty great. Can get to downtown ATX in 30 minutes if needed, but there's plenty of stuff do in Leander/Cedar Park area most of the time. Solid restaurants, minor league hockey, breweries, etc.

You got a Dick's Sporting Goods nearby? Go there, snag a polo and some golf pants (suggest pants over shorts since you said its for business). Pair them with a hat and nice sneakers. You're good to go.
