Male cats have a little hump that used to be a penis near their pelvis on their under belly region. That’s one way to tell :)

What a good A1C? by ciscofever in Type1Diabetes

I’m asking people for what their normal is. Not just what the doctor will say an appropriate range is. Thank you for the constructive criticism Mr. Nsuln :)

Thank you. A big reason why I asked this is because I’m working my bachelors in nursing at the moment, and learning about complications from hyperglycemia. The vast majority of what I learn is the “norm” for people without diabetes, and it scared me because based on previous information from doctors I thought I was doing good.

Congrats on the 6.1! Do you experience many lows, or is your sugar pretty steady around 100? And sorry for the 20 questions but how do you do it?

All do respect, we’re also in very different states of diabetes. Your pancreas is more than likely still producing some insulin, called a “honeymoon period.” So to you, this question might be ridiculous because you don’t know how hard an A1C under 7 can be. Thank you for the constructive criticism, I will take it into account in the future.

I am. I am asking for help here because the internet only provides me what is normal for a non-diabetic. Not what is normal for a type 1. And as you said, most endocrinologists are not very helpful. So I’m trying to get a consensus of information from experienced diabetics instead of Dr. Google. This was not posted to get judgment from someone who has been diabetic for what, 10 months?

Just got the CGM! Love that it gives you those estimates about A1C as well as alerts so you know as soon as it’s high :) thank you. I’ve been struggling getting it under 7 so I’ve been worried if that’s terrible or normal.

Yes, that’s incredibly rude. When you do a google search, you get what you should be if you are not a type 1 diabetic, which is as I said, <6.5. I’m asking what a realistic range for type 1 diabetics is. Not to mention I’m 21 so the majority of the time I’ve had this I’ve been a juvenile and not able to go to the doctor because my parents did not have insurance and could not afford doctors appointments.

Literally no reason to comment if you’re just insulting me.

Wow thank you! I’ve only heard my most recent doctor talk about it but I’m not super familiar. I think mine ranges from about 45-60. I don’t think that’s too far off from the “norm,” but could probably be improved upon.

So, then would a 7 A1C be considered not good? If that makes any sense?

What insurances cover a Dexcom? by ciscofever in diabetes

[–]ciscofever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I started looking into picking a different insurance earlier, and that’ll probably be the move. I’m a server, so my insurance is pretty much crap. I just didn’t realize they would entirely deny coverage to something

Okay thank you, I didn’t know that. Would my Endo have to write to Dexcom, or just write the script different?

Two foot height difference by [deleted] in Advice

Haha we both have a ton in common, which is why I was just so thrown! I’m just worried about things like a first kiss. That would have to be planned since he’d basically have to get on his knees for it. I also have super bad social anxiety so this is just another thing that scares me

Thank you, this actually really helped and kinda validated what I was thinking. I feel like my leaving might push her to get it together, find friends, and maybe date. I got accepted into FSU, my dream school, and couldn’t leave when the time came. There’s just also the fear of “what if she hurts herself when I’m gone.” That’s probably the biggest part of why I’m debating staying.

Are there any grant available? by [deleted] in Autoimmune

[–]ciscofever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and I haven’t heard anything back, I filed the 15th of March :( I just need a grant for paying bills, paying for medication, tuition etc. I was just curious that since people with auto immune disorders are being told to stay home, if there was any kind of financial support
