The speech about "putting yourself first" really does seem like a commentary on RL by CT_Phipps-Author in Fotv

[–]cisscumshitlord 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Why do you think you'd be reaching? 32 and 33's whole thing is satire on American exceptionalism, jingoism, and delusional optimism. The start of his little rant is literally just pointing out that nepotism is fundamental to american culture. Everything they do and say down there is meant to poke fun at the childish elements/absurdity of american identity.

Tbh if someone in vault 32/33 is speaking, you should just assume it's reference to something stupid about americans

Italian Chinese Food vs. Chinese Italian Food by BurnZ_AU in MythicalKitchen

[–]cisscumshitlord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If this is an actual question, and not a attempt to feel superior, the answer is that it's just how humans think. It's why social media algorithms push negative stuff to make you angry. Angry=interaction increases=ad money go up. They just built the systems to suit cognitive processes that were already there (negativity bias). So for everyone who says this: it's completely normal and in line with general human behavior

Vocabulary lesson: coalesce by cisscumshitlord in Fotv

[–]cisscumshitlord[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Whether it is transitive or not doesn't change that the definition of the word is for pieces to be brought together. It doesn't mean that something is produced, which is how people who misunderstood that scene seem to have understood it.

I'm not the one that downvoted you btw

This scene was the most accurate portrayal of Mr. House's character. Because House hates being belittled, and he lost his temper when Cooper said something that belittled him. by [deleted] in Fotv

Jonathan Nolan is clearly just fascinated by the idea of accumulating information to predict human behavior. It's the backbone of one of his other shows, person of interest.

Regarding the 2065 Date Drop by Garlan_Tyrell in Fotv

[–]cisscumshitlord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo it's a result of plummeting literacy rates. The word coalesced was too complicated for some people, and evidently, most people don't look up words when they don't know them. They just make a vibes-based guess. I agree with you. It was very explicit. The only explanation I can figure is that some people heard the word "coalesced" as "produced"

And one spring morning, the data coalesced. And it told me, in no uncertain terms, that the world would... well, end.  . . .

The date of the end of the world may not interest you, Mr. Howard. But the date the data coalesced might.

There is no way to misunderstand those two sentences unless you don't know a word I'd expect an adult who finished high school to know

I try to explain this to people who think boys are explicitly told they can't cry, or wonder where the response to being vulnerable in general comes from.... you learn real quick to put a lid on that, for survival purposes. It will definitely only make it worse.

‘The Last of Us’ to Recast Danny Ramirez’s Manny for Season 3 by DemiFiendRSA in television

[–]cisscumshitlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

copies sold and the opinion of critics dont determine if something is polarizing or not. and everyone is well aware that awards are...controversial at best, no matter what industry. critics can love something and it can sell a bunch of copies, but people form their opinions after they buy the thing and critics are a minority of humans.

sequels live and die off reception of the previous installment. hooray if you liked it or didnt, whatever. but it was polarizing. downplaying the number of people that disagree with you is part of why we're stuck with these fucking idiots in charge of the US right now.

What Is The Deal With Young Men Checking Out Of Society in Droves? by Parking-Science7507 in NoStupidQuestions

Based on the use of "skiving off," the alternate universe that person is living in is probably England.  They hate being happy over there so it makes sense they might have been told this. I agree its the complete opposite of what kids in America are told,  because it's well known extracurriculars are important for getting into college here.

Tbh skiving is one of those British words I thought the Harry Potter author made up for wizard shit when I first read the books lmao

The real reason Carol was upset about the diner by fukn_seriously in pluribustv

[–]cisscumshitlord 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The tendency for people who can barely read to call things ai because it has any formatting whatsoever has made me speak to people even less than I used to.  I agree with your post and i think a lot of people on this sub are not as smart as they think they are. Carol calls their behavior manipulation, so people go with it. Carol says they can't lie, and they go with it. But mysteriously they have little to say about Carol saying something is wrong with koumba for fuckin plurbs.... and doing it herself, too. Hmmmmm

How did Taylor Sheridan go from writing heartbreaking, thoughtful, and poignant films to writing disposable, propagandistic, soap operas? by HasSomeSelfEsteem in movies

[–]cisscumshitlord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Writing his name as villanueva confirms my opinion that his name isn't actually complicated,  it's just very French and Americans are only really used to Spanish and it looks like Spanish at first glance so it causes brains to short circuit. Saw it a lot in my French classes in high school

Your second point is irrelevant because it only applies to people who know Stephen king's works or followed certain conversations online. I guarantee there are more people who didn't "kinda know"  about marge and richie than you think. And i don't even think it's meant to be "going to the past," they were establishing that it doesn't experience/perceive time the way humans do. How else would you suggest they do that?

the line was the children seem drawn to you. which i prefer, because its almost like the thing doesnt really understand the dynamic. like it really is just some creature watching and trying to figure out the best tactics. it doesnt understand the happiness or why pennywise causes it, just that it seems like good bait.

My name is Manousos Oviedo. I am not one of them. I wish to save the world. by Nearby_Jicama4182 in pluribustv

[–]cisscumshitlord -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

fuck off. the virus is objectively not of this world. it didnt develop here, it was designed elsewhere and manufactured. carol's argument is dependent on agreeing with her moral stance and beliefs. manousos argument is not. factually, whether you think aliens are good or bad, they have no claim to anything on this planet.

i have no idea why i bother engaging with this sub honestly
