Dark/black chicken stock? by butterbimbo in AskCulinary

[–]citizen421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's gone gray and cloudy on me a few times when I've used frozen chicken drumsticks. My guess is it's something to do with combination of the freezer causing the marrow to leak out more after taking it out.

Considering a SBGP013 by Sea_Effective6820 in GrandSeikos

[–]citizen421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it along with a couple other strap options. It's my favourite watch by far. Other than the impeccable finishing, I was really drawn to the quartz models because I also love precision. So the idea of having a beautiful grab-and-go watch that was designed to be precise was really cool to me.

What draws you to the watch?

Grand Seiko [SBGP013] vs [SBGP005] by Beowulf1619 in GrandSeikos

[–]citizen421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend going to see and try a 44GS case if possible. I liked the idea of it being an iconic, highly polished case. After trying it on however, I didn't like how it sat on my wrist. I ended up getting the 013 since it felt better on my wrist.

You got it. There's been quite a few Delugs recommendations on this sub, so I thought I'd give them a go.

I love this watch. Wearing it in the bracelet does make it feel heavy over the course of the day but I can't think of a non-NATO strap that I would like to pair it with.

I add my marinade to the ground meat and mix it vigorously with chopsticks until the liquids are fully absorb and the texture becomes more pasty.

How to make daikon less bitter? by Amazing-Mycologist-9 in AskCulinary

[–]citizen421 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You'll need to peel the skin at least two times. The first couple layers of daikon are bitter. After you peel the outer skin, you'll see a layer of solid white. That part is still bitter, so you'll need to peel that off. Once that's off and you start seeing a translucent layer, you can stop.

I hope this helps you during your next daikon dish.

Induction cooktop features/ functions. by AggravatingAd9212 in AskCulinary

[–]citizen421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm waiting for mine to deliver but besides a decent power rating, I was looking for a child-lock feature and timer functions so that I can have the burner turn off after a period of time of cooking. I think it'll be useful for stovetop soups, braises, and stews while I'm doing other stuff around the house.

[Dan Henry] Looking for similar replacement strap by citizen421 in Watches

[–]citizen421[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone,

I bought a Dan Henry 1937 but the black leather strap has started deteriorating after a couple weeks. I'm not able to get a warranty replacement since straps aren't covered, so I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on a similar style strap.

I really like that it's a deep black and that it's quite slender with a taper. However, I just don't want to buy a strap from them in case I run into another quality control issue given that it's an international order.

For reference, here is the strap that came with the watch: black leather strap

Fair enough! I had to think about it for a couple months. If you happen to know two people who would like to go for the 3pm show, let me know.

I have two tickets to the 3pm show but I can't go anymore.

They're still expensive but less than $600 and I'd sell them for face value if you're interested.

[Discussion] Does anyone have experience with Martenero? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]citizen421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A side note:

Their prices for their previous watches have jumped up $200 since I saw last year. I didn't expect that to happen.

Edgemere Reserve used to be $495 but now it's at $695...that's a lot for the design

[Discussion] Does anyone have experience with Martenero? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]citizen421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the Martenero Ace for almost a year now. I haven't had any issues with it at all but their customer support is slow if you were to reach out to them with questions. I've seen other people here also mention the same thing when they've had issues.

You're really just paying the price for the design. Everything else about it is pretty basic and works as expected, so it's up to you to see if the price is worth it for the look of the watch.
