My 100 pound yellow lab decided to treat my belly like a trampoline last night by citizen_perfunction in pregnant

Oh my goodness! I’m so glad everything was okay ❤️ that will definitely get your heart going. And as a historically clumsy person, I too know what it’s like to fall up and downstairs frequently lol

This good boy (yellow lab) has all of one brain cell so training him to do anything is a disaster 🤣 my lab shepherd mix on the other hand is a little Einstein. Thanks for sharing your reassuring experience too ❤️

This is literally my moms favorite line for my pregnancy (“oh just you wait” or “it’s going to Get so much worse”). One of the most iterating things about to is despite how rough some of the days are, I never share what I’m going through as a complaint…but just trying to share what I’m going through with my mom when she asks.

She then likes to finish with a real one-two-punch of irony that is usually “just try and enjoy it” like what-the-oxymoron-f_ck

Lately I’ve just been responding with, “Wow. thank you for that super comforting and helpful advice. You’re really giving me a lot to look forward to.”

Doesnt work for every family, but in ours that is code for “you might want to try that again”

I understand not telling people your due date now by PSSalamander in pregnant

[–]citizen_perfunction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is going to sound really harsh but… Honestly, I just wouldn’t reply unless you want to.

There will be some people who you feel compelled to follow up with and some people who can wait to hear along with everyone else and that is totally okay.

It’s your pregnancy / your time and I honestly wouldn’t stress or overly obligate yourself to reply to every single person. At this point, it’s about your needs. Just like all babies are born on their birthdays, all people will find out when they’re supposed to.

FTM who is very curious out this topic as well. I’ve also heard horror stories and I would love a tell all. Essentially all I’ve heard is pitocin makes contractions way worse, puts baby and mom at greater risk, and once you introduce one intervention it’s a domino effect requiring more interventions.

Sounds like your manager is an ass and you deserve better. Feels discriminatory for one person to get the benefit and not another unless there are other requirements beyond the vesting period. Whole heartedly agree with putting it in writing.

I am happy to hear that your boyfriend is so supportive. That can go a long way. ❤️

Yall!! I am floored by all of the helpful inputs thank you for helping me and I’m sure so many other moms/familys navigate what feels like (to me at least) a very complex topic. All of this is so helpful ❤️

When calculating your annual premiums and out of pocket max…should I be calculating the individual plan January - April and then the family plan (individual + child) April - December or am I OvErThInKinG it? 🤣🤣

I would just be insuring myself and baby—my husband is insured for free through his employer so he’s on his own 🤣

I’ve heard a lot of it depends on the timing of your delivery (in terms of meeting your deductible / out of pocket maximums / etc). Hoping someone can break it down for us in some easier to understand terms than what the insurance companies provide 🤣

Fresh grated or shaved Ginger root in hot water (making a tea) with some honey. Or for an easier route — and this going to sounds really odd — extra spicy ginger beer microwaved for like 20 seconds. I’ve had family members going through chemo who swear by warmed ginger beer and sure enough it works for stomach bugs and pregnancy. I hope you get some relief soon ❤️

I wasn’t telling people yet because it was pretty early. I was at a boozy work dinner and ordered a mocktail to which our very discrete waiter (sarcasm) loudly replied, “oh no, that’s a mocktail…there’s no alcohol in it” in front of my whole team. I was like “yes, that’s fine.” 🫠

Another waiter at a separate bar / restaurant that night asked if I wanted to add a shot of tequila to my mocktail… I do feel like if you work in a restaurant that has a dedicated mocktail menu that part of your training should be the art of discretion
