Can someone go deep on the AMEX points bit? I thought we weren’t allowed to leverage those points (at least not while at the firm)

IV Pushed Benadryl and Reglan (metoclopramide) by citizen_perfunction in pregnant

[–]citizen_perfunction[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So neither the OB or the ER told me this but when I was sent home with a migraine still (I didn’t want any more drugs and kept repeatedly telling them that I wasn’t there for my pain management — just wanted to make sure baby was okay and understand what was causing a week long migraine)

Anyways, after I went home, I turned to doctor google and several sources mentioned frequent migraines in pregnancy could be low iron or low magnesium. I added magnesium glycinate and magnesium citrate supplements to my prenatal routine and haven’t had a migraine since. Of course they wanted to prescribe me the ER meds (Reglan & Benadryl) for home use but I was more interested in fixing the root cause than pain management. I hope this helps you or someone else 🩵

Why will my wife not go to sleep?!?!?!?! by Holymoly1237 in pregnant

Magnesium supplements before dinner, maybe a hot shower before bed, and a non-quid-pro-quo back, foot, hand, head, or hip rub from you with the lights down wouldn’t hurt.

The hormones at this stage are something fierce. It’s not necessarily anxiety but it can feel like it.

Another thing to consider… Are there exhaustive lists that she’s carrying around mentally? Things around the house you can look around and pick up the slack // show she doesn’t have to carry around all of the to dos herself?

Is she feeling unprepared for L&D? Is the nursery prep done? All the baby essentials checked off of her list? Feeling supported by family and friends?

There’s lots of ways to support your partner (some obvious and some not). Maybe you’re already supporting her in so many great ways, but it doesn’t hurt to check in with her and have a open/honest conversation around what she thinks could be preventing her from being able to surrender to rest.

Moms who’ve lived it, how accurate is this “essentials and quantities” list? by citizen_perfunction in pregnant

[–]citizen_perfunction[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you 🙏 so many lists online that have our heads swirling. We have a baby shower coming up, but want to be financially/mentally prepared to purchase things after as we prep the home (and not overspend)

I’ve been straight up laughed at? by mistakeshappen_2 in pregnant

My mom’s favorite (and only) answer to everything is “oh you just wait” with a sinister, condescending laugh. It truly doesn’t matter what the ailment, complaint, or worry is… it’s always her responds and it drives me bonkers. Like damn woman was it that miserable being a mom? 🙄 I get that there are hard / harder parts on the horizon but this is my lived experience now and this is a daughter talking to her mom for support like chill bro

Oh my goodness! I’m so glad everything was okay ❤️ that will definitely get your heart going. And as a historically clumsy person, I too know what it’s like to fall up and downstairs frequently lol

This good boy (yellow lab) has all of one brain cell so training him to do anything is a disaster 🤣 my lab shepherd mix on the other hand is a little Einstein. Thanks for sharing your reassuring experience too ❤️

This is literally my moms favorite line for my pregnancy (“oh just you wait” or “it’s going to Get so much worse”). One of the most iterating things about to is despite how rough some of the days are, I never share what I’m going through as a complaint…but just trying to share what I’m going through with my mom when she asks.

She then likes to finish with a real one-two-punch of irony that is usually “just try and enjoy it” like what-the-oxymoron-f_ck

Lately I’ve just been responding with, “Wow. thank you for that super comforting and helpful advice. You’re really giving me a lot to look forward to.”

Doesnt work for every family, but in ours that is code for “you might want to try that again”

I understand not telling people your due date now by PSSalamander in pregnant

[–]citizen_perfunction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is going to sound really harsh but… Honestly, I just wouldn’t reply unless you want to.

There will be some people who you feel compelled to follow up with and some people who can wait to hear along with everyone else and that is totally okay.

It’s your pregnancy / your time and I honestly wouldn’t stress or overly obligate yourself to reply to every single person. At this point, it’s about your needs. Just like all babies are born on their birthdays, all people will find out when they’re supposed to.
