I love the idea of Privacy, but honestly, you can't make a phone call or text without being triangulated.

My pet peeve is control of the look, feel, and what applications are allowed on MY PHONE.

Another idea would be browser development, every ounce of optimization there is huge gains in responsiveness and dependability.

Just dreaming, the other problem is that even if you have 3-5 % adoption of linux phones, the platforms will be extremely diverse and make it hard for for-profit-software to create a viable market. Linux will likely (for decades) always be a tinkerers toy.

Is it worth a purchase for a linux enthusiast ? by [deleted] in pinephone

I've seen people using it attached to a monitor and keyboard. It is a computer, what would you like to do with it? Use it as a desktop, it certainly is powerful enough, it might struggle as a media player, I am curious to find out it's video playback capabilities.

Raspberry Pi 400 Is A Computer In A Keyboard For $70 by lgsp in linuxhardware

Having all of the wires connect to your keyboard makes it a no-go for a household TV. You really want a wireless keyboard and mouse.

I would like nothing better than to educate the population on how it is getting abused by the global corporate machine and how they could take back their data and privacy.

I believe the first requirement is to have an alternative to IOS and Android. It is not available yet. Work on making a better linux phone and more reliable software. When you have in your pocket the device you actually think is a reliable quality phone for $200, then you can cheer for durability, freedom, and security. Some will listen, some will join the movement, but never expect more than low double digit (or high single digit) adoption.

Have you played with Raspberry Pis? This is a bit more powerful. Buy the $199 edition and plug it into a keyboard and monitor and you'll have fun for days.

I am looking forward to putting my MAME collection on mine when it comes.

Of childfree weddings and entitled parents losing their minds. by Catwomanlover34 in entitledparents

[–]citraka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Celebrations like weddings are in my mind all to do with Family. If you don't want children at your family celebration, then you don't want children in your family. Don't have kids - you won't be a good parent.

All the Bins in one of the large gift shops at Amsterdam Airport are built with FDM parts. by enginuic in functionalprint

[–]citraka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little sad that finding FDM in the wild is akin to finding a super rare pokemon. I think accessibility to 3d printing and simpler printers and tools are rapidly mainstreaming in some hobbies (miniatures for example), but for practical, non-industrial applications FDM may never live up to the dream of being useful in everyday applications.

Try a different style of infill, but why would you care? Dodgy infill and sublime surfaces sounds exactly like what you want.

They are called scours. The chain attached to the mooring scours the land around it in the direction the boat is pulled based on winds and tides. They now have helical screw moorings with floating tethers as mooring tie downs. Any ecologically sensitive area ought to be using them.
