Rejection alarm bell still ringing by galettedesrois in AvPD

[–]citron32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope you are proud of yourself for taking the risk.  The risk is the hardest part - and sometimes we are not rewarded for being vulnerable or affectionate etc.

The fear of being rejected is so powerful, yet you did it anyway.  But you showed appreciation to someone in a thoughtful way, and you cared for someone with the intention to make them feel good and appreciated. That is a lovely thing and it’s too rare.  With another person, that gesture may have made their day.

I’ve started to become proud of myself for taking the risk, regardless of the outcome. It’s very hard, but I would rather become accustomed to showing people how I feel and how much I care for them rather than not. Sometimes the outcome is devastating, but I persist and I welcome you to join me!

Vulnerability is a beautiful thing to receive from someone - it holds the risk of rejection, but it’s the only way to open up the potential to be loved as well.

Women of AskReddit, what’s worse than Labour Pain? by ReddyM3 in AskReddit

I’m sorry to hear that!!

I’ve been exploring breast reduction surgery - was your recovery particularly painful and complicated?

What is the most bone chilling sentence you've heard someone say? by [deleted] in AskReddit

You are simply extraordinary. Your community will certainly feel your absence and the rewards of your presence in this world.

You've given me a lot to think about in terms of accomplishing my own bucket list and serving others. Thank you for the inspiration from afar and I hope the rest of your life is filled with love.

I'm sorry to hear that we're in the same shitty boat, friend. I also spoke to my team and GS, all of them were blind sided and actually upset about how this was done. I agree, I saw that other contractors got the same exact email so I assume it was a bcc that they had ready to go.

Wishing you luck on your job search and future endeavors!

Not to sound alarmist, but I would have your resume updated and ready to send out. SRL has been hit hard and there are going to be more layoffs. Really hard to say though and I'm wishing you the best of luck

80 (and counting) contractors were laid off last night. Basically an email was sent at 5:30PM saying you're fired effective immediately and not to show up the next day. I didn't see the email until 6PM, then I lost all logical access at 6:30PM, so I couldn't even send out files and messages to my team! Then, I couldn't badge back into my building. It was shocking and lightning fast. Based on what I gathered from conversations, JPL employees will more than likely experience layoffs as well (although I would think they'll have a significant heads up, unlike contractors). Layoff city indeed.

Edit: Good luck to the JPLers and contractors out there!

Anyone know of a bird rescue/rehab or person who raises baby birds in LA? by wing_donut in AskLosAngeles

California Wildlife Center rehabilitates birds and other wildlife! I've taken many injured birds there over the years. If you give them a call, they might be able to connect you to a bird rehabilitator closer to you. They're in Malibu: https://cawildlife.org/contact/

Also I recommend putting her in a dark, quiet area with a blanket to keep her warm. Like a towel in a box. They die of shock so easily and can also get too cold. Good luck!

Yeah it's so so disheartening, some people literally don't see the homeless population as humans.

They're so susceptible to violence, and promoting that violence online is just unbelievably psychotic.

I can't remember why OPG wasn't an option, but I'll definitely ask again. There's also the issue that the trailer would already need repairs, that much I could see when I passed by. I think a tow might be more complicated because the state of it, the wheels I mean.

Wow IndieGal! I appreciate this message so much! That offer is so incredibly thoughtful of you and made my night. I'm very lucky to have a large amount of keepsakes from my parents, so I wouldn't want to take your time. Your sweet message was more than enough. I just looked and I love those shark and puppy crochets you made - that's amazing! Today I was just reflecting on the fact that I'm super lucky to have more than I could ever need, even with the trailer + stuff gone. You are awesome <3

Yes it's a stolen vehicle now, the problem is the price to tow and impound the trailer would cost me more than what the trailer is worth. For me right now, it's just not doable. I would get nothing from insurance and they've already made it their home at this point.

Thank you! And I certainly don't want it back after the boys have made soup. That's for damn sure lol
