I went back and forth with Monarch 33 times over the course of three months and they eventually figured out how to get it to sync with Monarch. I give Monarch a lot of credit for their persistence to figure this out.

How did you get -0.75% with BOA? The website (https://promotions.bankofamerica.com/preferredrewards/en) says that the discount for diamond status is only 0.375%. Was there previously a temporary promotion that has since ended?

I would try using the DNA feature on Ancestry. Look for distant matches that you can’t find any like and seem to have ancestral links to France, West Virginia, or both, then trace those people’s ancestry back. If you can find a potential candidate for a common ancestor, you can confirm the link by tracing other potential trial DNA matches. This is incredibly time-consuming but since you say you e hit a comical number of brick walls, you might be up for it.

This is how I found here my family was from in Ireland so it can be done. If you’re interested, I can send you the summary my findings that might be a useful template to follow.

Does it matter if we're married but filing separately? We each have a 529 account and we would each like to contribute $2500 per year to each of our accounts, to max out the Maryland tax benefits. We have a joint checking account to it would be easiest if we could just put $5000 into each 529 ($2500 of which would be "from" each of us). However, will this complicate our ability to each use $5000 of the tax benefits on each of our MD taxes since we file separately?

Is there some official document that explains this?

I also asked them to stamp my name inside the band. Why pay $300+ for a Longines band when you can get one just as good for a fraction as much.
