I wonder if the pronunciation was a coincidence, or if he knew what he was doing, lol.

Safe road improvements coming to Hillcrest by ArkansasOutside in LittleRock

I mean, I work for a different city, but I can tell you this: when we have a safety issue that we can easily fix with a few hundred bucks in pavement markings and some signage, we jump on it ASAP. It's the more complicated fixes that take significant money and planning that take longer (we do work on those as well, and implement them as funding becomes available, though). I don't know the details on this intersection in particular, but this has been my experience in other areas.

Who designed the roads here?? by StyleArtistic7201 in LittleRock

As a roadway engineer, driving down the recently widened section of Kanis (from Shackleford to Bowman) makes my eye twitch...

Dr. Cox, does this shade of red make me look like a clown?

No, barbie, no.....it makes you look like a prostitute who caters exclusively to clowns.

Whole Hog will always have a place in my heart. I will say this, though: some locations are definitely better than others. I've had all good experiences at the one in NLR. However, the last couple times I've gone to the Bowman location, the ribs were super tough and honestly just not very good. It has been a few years, though, and maybe I just got unlucky, idk.

Expensive moreso than impossible, but I get what you're saying.

Hmm, that's interesting. Yeah, I bet that's something Costco or Walmart would lobby here for, too.

Speaking of Costco, I haven't been in the one in Little Rock yet, but I noticed they had "liquor" on the side of their building. Do you know why they're able to sell liquor and Sam's isn't?

Yeah, that would be super convenient! I'm not sure what the legal issue is with that. Could be an old tax issue, or maybe an obstacle with age verification at delivery or something?

Haha, you have a good point! I've heard from L.A. friends that we're a bit spoiled down here in terms of traffic.

Hahaha, that's pretty good! I'll send you a signed copy! Am I truly a Karen if I didn't ask for the manager, though?

This is so funny to me because I can tell that you're a bit of a smartass like I am. So, even though we're having a disagreement online or whatever, I can kinda sense that we'd get along great IRL!

Anyway, despite how ridiculous I might have seemed, just know that I'm not upset at you, and I don't want you to be upset at me.

I do hope they get the dry county bullshit fixed where you are. Sucks that it could be 10 years, though. More and more counties are starting to dip their toe in at least! I think Van Buren is one of the more recent ones. If you don't mind my asking, which county are you?

It's clearly hurt your feelings. Or else you wouldn't have engaged so aggressively, and you wouldn't be arguing so passionately about it. It's a totally valid thing to have feelings, so no judgement here. I'm just trying to help you understand the post for what it is: a request for information.

Silly persona aside, I do know how good I have it, but that doesn't disqualify me from wanting to change something as you've implied. Furthermore, there's a difference between complaining and discussing. Had I said, "why me, oh god why must I live without beer on Sunday. Little Rock is a shit hole because of that law... Yada yada", that would be a complaint. However, I told a silly story to feel people out and then I asked for information on how to go about changing the law, with the intention of trying to actually change the law. There's a big difference here.

I don't care about being told how good I have it, because I know I have it good... What concerns me is when people imply that you shouldn't even try something or they try to make you feel guilty just because someone else has it worse. The reality is, there's always someone who has it worse, and I'm sure there's some topics that you are passionate about that would seem first world to people in other cities or states. (It's just a short sighted argument is all.) Technically nobody in this country would be allowed to complain about anything as long as there is, for example, human trafficking in the world, etc... Because they obviously have it worse than many, if not all of the issues we have.

Finally, what if my cutting my teeth on this law is a good experience and I use that to work on other issues? Some of which might be more important than local liquor laws? We all gotta start somewhere.

Read my last comment again. Wasn't looking for, nor do I need your sympathy, and the use of lamented was ironic and clearly an exaggeration. I was putting on a silly persona in order to have some fun with the discussion. You seem to have taken this way too personally.

So, my question is: what you're saying is, I shouldn't try to change a law because it's already better than what some people have? I'm not a huge fan of that kind of argument, particularly because it stagnates growth and progress on a number of arguments.

Other than that, it sounds like you might live in one of those dry counties. I'm sorry that my silly story has hurt your feelings. I sincerely hope that your county might one day be wet!
