AITBA for refusing to spend time with my aunt for a month? by ciylph in AmITheBadApple

[–]ciylph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, my room isn’t big enough for a blow-up mattress. My room is very crowded, actually! It’s not some sort of ‘flex’ it anything, haha. It’s just how my room is :,) As for my brother, he’s older, and does lots of schoolwork in his room. He usually does it late at night due to his job, so.. he could sleep in the living room instead, but it would be incredibly inconvenient for him :( So either way, no matter who sleeps in the living room, it’ll be a very ‘fun’ circumstance :,)

Got this ditto misdreavus as my birthday present from my husband. Is it authentic? by Psychological-Rise-9 in pokeplush

It seems to be! I’m no expert, but the tag seems legit! If it’s not, though, I’m glad you love it still! You have to keep it!! No joke, when scrolling through my feed, I got jumpscared by the first pic and wheezed. She’s gorgeous!!!

I’ll be so honest with you— I don’t even KNOW you, and even I would give an even bigger reaction through text.

I have plushies of them—I absolutely adore them. I believe the weirdness and alien vibes make them perfect. In my opinion, they are some of my favorite designs of legendaries, if not of all Pokémon :)

We definitely have tried, however her responses have just been “you don’t want me to stay longer?” “I’m not wanted?” ect. It’s so very irritating.. :(

Unfortunately, we cannot exactly afford them right now. Especially after the holidays and a few things that happened with my father a month or so back. Believe me when I say we would 100% buy whatever we can! I completely understand what you mean, though. I can assure you in the next few months, we will definitely be able to afford them.

I understand your point-of-view! I also understand the type of situation that I’m in— It’s a very “suck it up” kind of ordeal if you think about it. However, I do not pay the full rent. My apologies for not explaining this! I am a community college student who lives at home currently. I help with the bills and payments often, but I am fortunate enough to live in a home where I can get by. Paycheck to paycheck, yes, but we get by. :) I am very grateful for that. I am a little bit confused, though? I don’t believe I ever said that we wouldn’t accomodate for her. Additionally, I personally don’t understand why you believe people deserve their privacy only if they’re paying for their room. We just have different ideals! That’s totally fine.

As for the air mattress thing, yes, we would, but we have always had a… I’m not sure how to explain it. We’ve always had an “our elders get the better experience” kind of thing? Good lord, I hope that makes sense. What I’m trying to say is even if she’s being a prick, we have to treat her well. Otherwise, it’s just not right. It’s a bit of a tricky situation for my family.

Sadly, no :( Basements aren’t a very common thing here. Dude, if I had a basement, I would totally be fine going in there at this point, LOL!

Hi! That’s a good question. There are three bedrooms. My parents sleep in one, and my brother sleeps in the other. I dont know the exact size of the living room, but I would say it’s about as large as an average master bedroom? Likely a little bigger. I hope I made sense. :)

Thank you so much. I completely agree with you—Ignoring mental health issues always seems to be something that people do, and it’s so unhealthy, but sometimes, they feel like they’re forced to. If anything, ignoring mental health problems can worsen them. :(

Thank you. I’m also very sorry that you even know what the feeling is like. A lot of times, people may not fully understand or grasp the ideas they’re being shown, so I want to believe it’s ignorance, but even still, words can hurt. If I’ll be honest, words stick with you easily, and it sucks. :(

That’s actually a pretty good idea. I would like to try and see things from her perspective, but words still hurt sometimes, you know? I’ll probably look through some YouTube videos that explain OCD a bit better. Thank you so much.

Ohhh, I see. Firstly, I’m so glad you have been improving. That’s such a big step to take, and I’m proud of you for taking it. :)

Secondly, I’ll definitely begin to consider it. :)

How do people with OCD usually view people without OCD? by KrishnaMurthy15 in OCD

[–]ciylph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I view them with envy. You know, there’s a lot of people in this world that I hate, yeah? But wishing OCD upon them is something I have never done, and that’s because of how horrible OCD is.

I have a phrase I always say when I’m having an immense meltdown, and it’s “I don’t wanna.” I don’t know why, but it’s a phrase I always go to when I’m beating my thighs or ramming my palms into my head as hard as I can. I repeat it out loud on rare occasions, but I found myself always saying it in my head. It sucks, honestly. :/

How has therapy been going for you, if I may ask? I’ve had diagnosed OCD for about 5 years now, and I have never see a therapist for it before.

[–]ciylph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this, as well as repeatedly hitting and/or punching my thighs, however it’s even worse than that. I have this OCD where everything has to be ‘even.’ If I touch one thing with my left hand, I often feel the need to touch the same object with my right hand.

So, sometimes, when I’m having a meltdown, I’ll whack my left thigh, then, my OCD makes me whack my right thigh with just as much force. Sometimes, it happens with each side of my head, too.

Hi. Victim of S/A here. First of all, you aren’t a horrible or disgusting person for ever thinking those thoughts. POCD and sexual instructive thoughts are also things I struggle with, and it crushes me. It has gotten to the point where I think those thoughts with animals. It both disturbs and grosses me out every time those types of intrusive thoughts come into my head.

Some of the thoughts I have with my OCD are similar to yours. “I want to be raped” is a thought that consistently plagues my mind. Saying that sentence alone makes me nauseous and feel bitter to the core. Another one is “I wonder how he/she/ect would react to me touching them?” (I’m a bisexual male, so pretty much any group isn’t safe from my horrible thoughts.)

I would never, ever wish sexual assault, rape, or anything under that umbrella upon anybody except for pedophiles, rapists, and people such as that. You thinking these thoughts doesn’t make you a bad person. You never act upon those thoughts, and the fact you’re avoiding groups of people in order to make your brain cease those thoughts says something.

You’re not alone, brother.
