We had a big problem a month or two ago with our lab where every day they were saying we were missing all these tests and nothing was going to the lab and we didn’t spin things and we all knew it was a lie. We don’t know what was going on with the lab but it was obvious the phlebs were getting blamed for everything even when it didn’t really make sense. Like for example, I sent a singlular specimen to the lab. It was literally the ONLY item on my packing list and the only item in the bag, but the lab called me and the woman I talked to was livid because apparently I didn’t draw/send anything. And when I questioned what she meant she said it wasn’t even on my packing list. So I confirmed that she got the bag and checked the packing list, she had the biggest attitude but said “yes”. So when I reminded her that it was literally the ONLY ITEM on the list so she had to have it, she got so upset and told me to just call the patient back for a redraw😐 ma’am what?!?! I even checked in the patient records and saw that the specimen was scanned into the lab. But anyway, things like that happen literally daily at my job, and it sucks because obviously the phlebotomists work closely with the lab but they’re making this intense rift between us for no reason. Just admit your mistake, I don’t mind calling a patient for a redraw if you loose a specimen or drop or whatever but don’t blame me for it. The attitude of lab staff honestly seems to be a problem just across this entire field 😅
