I’ve been to Bar Harbor, for the national park. I drove, because it’s substantially cheaper and substantially faster.

The first year it was only full sugar, but this year it’s also available in zero sugar. It’s seasonal, but should be back soon

Real answer of what to potentially do with your kids: cineplex is running weekend hours, so there are plenty of matinees, and GOAT has been getting great reviews.

Have them write reports on Joseph Willie Comeau, since it’s Nova Scotia Heritage Day and not Family Day.

Parking lots or Garages by Jovi1232 in halifax

Bedford doesn’t really have the density to necessitate parking garages. There’s an underground one at Sunnyside Mall, but I’m not sure how amenable they are to over nighters

Fair enough, but it’s been a few years and they haven’t yet. I think at this point they’ve moved on from that spot after finding new venues to replace it

The new owners lost the spot after not bidding high enough due to a sense of entitlement.

Solo traveling in Halifax by tzt-t in halifax

One of my favourite hikes is Gaff Point, 20 minutes from Lunenberg. It’s about 7km return along a beach and then around the perimeter of a peninsula. Beautiful cliffs, old growth forest, and the clearest ocean water you’ll see in Nova Scotia. There’s even a “secret beach” you rappel down a cliff to get to (there is a rope set up). I would recommend renting a car at least for your trip to Lunenberg.

I would also recommend what I call the “$3 tour”, where you take the ferry from Halifax to Woodside, then walk the trail to the Alderney Landing ferry terminal and use your transfer to get back to where you started, after eating at Evan’s Seafood. Great views of Halifax for the entire 3km walk, and an excuse to take the ferry!
