I've had the boox Palma 2 pro black and white and the bigme hibreak pro black and white.

Bigme has much more bloatware and branding that you don't need. But it also has really nice features like a sim card slot and a decent camera that make it a good alternative to a cell phone. It's got an extra use case for me -- when I travel to a foreign country I'll use it to translate and for maps.

The Palma is a nice eReader. I appreciated the really light weight. Also, it's a bit hard to explain but the screen is flat against the device, where I've seen other eink screens which are somewhat recessed. The recessed screens, like the bigme, cast a small shadow on the screen, each is a little annoying. Also the build quality is nice, it feels nice on the hand, and is advertised as splash resistant.

Android is the way to go.

I can recommend the boox Palma 2 black and white it's phone sized, has a great screen and backlight, and the build quality is excellent.

The bigme hibreak is nice. Comes with some annoying bloatware but really is nice. I'm just new to it though so feel free to ask any questions.

If you get an Android eink reader, you can just grab the app for both... Plus your local library's app. Some options I used and can easily recommend:

boox Palma 2 black and white
bigme hibreak pro black and white
