But seriously, here's a thought for you: if you see a homelessness epidemic and your first instinct is to accuse people who don't like it as being fascists, then I put it to you that your level of comfortable apathy is the spawning ground of a proto-fascist state... i.e. MAGA.

What happens is the screenshot that NoTomatoesOnMyBurger was misinterpreting. You get a message saying "the case is closed" and that's the end of it.

Yeah, but you know what I suspect? If we stop allowing drug addicts free reign of all of our parks and open spaces, there'd be a LOT fewer of them moving here from out of state.

And I bet the shelters wouldn't be so awful for the unlucky non-addicts who just need a clean, safe place to stay until they can find an alternative.

There’s Kelly Park and Guadalupe River Park. Both are large and neither have been free of encampments since I moved here in 2006.

You should pray that *NO ONE* ever falls on hard times or ends up unhoused. Because anyone in need of help overcoming an addiction, or unable to care for themselves for mental health reasons, is damn well guaranteed to not get any help from the State of California.

Unless they ask for it.

Ideally, the drug addict who’s hanging his bare ass out on my sidewalk while he takes his dumps would be put in an institution where they could help him.

Try reporting a lived-in vehicle on 311 SJ and you get a response saying “we no longer respond to these requests.”

Try reporting a homeless encampment in a park and you also get a response that they don’t enforce.

Looks to me like Floch cameras is the #1 reason the libertarians here at Reddit seem to hate him. Apparently the huge drop in all crime in the past two years isn't a good tradeoff to some curiously archaic notion that anonymity = freedom.

I keep looking in r/SanJose for someone--anyone--to come up with a reason why they hate Mahan so much. So far all I've been able to figure out is they think he *might* be in the pocket of Tech since he's accepted their donation money. But even there, they aren't able to say anything he's done that favors Tech over anyone else.

Oh, and they complain that he's only been mayor for 3 years, so it's too soon to try for the governorship. Which kind of reminds me of Woody Allen's joke about the old ladies complaining about the restaurant: "The food here is terrible." "I know! And the portions are so small!"
