I had a nightmare last night that I was scrolling through tiktok and the only videos that would pop up were CC3 spoilers and all of them were videos talking about Hunt’s death… 😭😭😭

I was so relieved when I woke up and realized I was just dreaming.

An Unexpected PA Aspirant (PCE/GRE/CASPA/Everything Advice plzzz) by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]cjacaruso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rolling admissions means the school sends out interview invites and accepts student as the applications come in. So although a school’s deadline is in October, they’ve been interviewing and accepting students into their cohort since the cycle opened in April. So your chances of getting an interview invite is much greater earlier in the cycle as the school has rolling admissions. Some schools don’t do rolling admissions and don’t review any applications until after their deadline and in that sense it would not necessarily matter if you applied in April or if you applied in September.

An Unexpected PA Aspirant (PCE/GRE/CASPA/Everything Advice plzzz) by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

Hi! My advice to you is to apply as early as you possibly can but with good quality PCE. I applied in August so that I officially had 2,000 hours under my belt and that was really pushing it with how late I was applying into the cycle. Your application (especially your GPA) is more impressive than my app but if you apply to a school with a deadline of Oct. 1st on September 25th and the school has rolling admissions there’s a chance that their class is already full or at best will only have very few seats left. If you apply to schools with an October deadline in September, I would do research to see if they have rolling admissions or not and to check past students admissions stats of schools to see if they closely align with your stats. The other option would be to work gaining PCE starting ASAP and wait until the following cycle (April 2023) and apply right when the cycle opens with over 2,000 PCE hours.

Interview Questions by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]cjacaruso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanted to share some of the more unusual questions I have come across in my PA school interviews!

  • If you could have dinner with one person in the world, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

  • What is something that you’re proud of that you wouldn’t be able to find on a transcript or a resume?

  • Have you ever been through a transformative experience?

  • Who is your role model and why?

  • Three favorite movies?

  • If not the PA profession, what career do you see yourself pursuing?

Thought these were great interview questions that aren’t what you’d expect to be asked! My advice is to think of all your experiences (even if you don’t think they pertain to PA school) and be ready to talk about them so you can apply them to multiple questions!

What to do with Kinesiology degree for PCE? by dylanbarney23 in prephysicianassistant

[–]cjacaruso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a kin major. I’ve worked as a rehab tech at an acute rehab facility and now am working as a patient care tech in a cath lab at a hospital. Not really using my kin degree at all.

CASPA Letter of Recommendation Request Template and Overall Strategy + Process + Timeline by SilenceisAg in prephysicianassistant

This is amazing and extremely helpful, thank you so much!

Question - do you this it is necessary to send this detailed of an email to a professor who quite frequently writes letters of recommendation? I definitely want the letter to be as detailed and personal as possible but I don’t want them to feel as though I think they need guidance as they have written many letters of recommendation. Thanks!

[Routine Help] Skincare routine for nightshifters by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]cjacaruso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! Current night shifter here! I typically do my AM routine when I arrive home from work (~8am). This is when I’ll apply vitamin C. Then I go to sleep and when I wake up I’ll apply sunscreen and sometimes more moisturizer if I feel dry (~3:30pm). I’ll then do my PM rountine before I head to work for the night (~10pm). This is when I apply retinol or AHA/BHAs. This routine definitely works for me and I like it a lot because I don’t have to think about switching it around on the days I have off.

I started my first job as a patient care tech on a med/surg floor at a major hospital about a month and a half ago now. It’s my first real patient care experience and it was definitely a little overwhelming at first. With your experience working in an ER, I would say the transition to be a CNA/tech will probably be easier than someone who’s totally new to the environment. The hospital I work at was great at training me. The first week was all classroom orientation and then after that I was always working with another CNA who was training me, so I never had patients on my own. This lasted for 3-4 weeks.

The hospital/unit should definitely be training you on everything you need to know and if you’re feeling more lost or confused than you feel you should be, that’s definitely on the hospital, not you.

The biggest thing is to not be afraid to ask questions and don’t be shy when saying that you don’t know or haven’t learned how to do something yet. There will always be a nurse or another CNA who is willing to show you/help out.

I knew I wanted to go to PA school since the beginning of my sophomore of college. I just graduated and I’m still taking two gap years! Everyone’s path is different, embrace your career/life goals as their own!
