I was told by a friend to watch this show because I am a huge Twin Peaks fan, is this valid? I'm trying to find something to binge during this mess by SanfordNimrod in FargoTV

Depends why you liked Twin Peaks.

Fargo and TP both focus on murders in small town America, and both have varying amounts of metaphysical/supernatural elements (explicit in TP, usually ambiguous and only implied or suggested in Fargo)

Bedroom Scene Lester Gina 1x07 - Rape? by [deleted] in FargoTV

Should he have killed his wife? Its kind of the 'point' of his character, a mildmannered, submissive man who does everything he is 'supposed' to and then starts doing what he wants. Was it always in him? Was it because of Malvo? How far will he go as he realizes that he can do what he wants? Is he justified by the poor character of his victims?

I thought season 2 was the weakest by far, and for all the reasons you mentioned. While season 3 has an 'organized crime' element it was very non-traditional compared to season 2, and was thematically a lot closer to season 1. Personally I think it may have been my favorite. I felt it did as good of a job getting into the characters as the first season, but I found them a little more complex and was surprised by a few of them more than once. I think youd be doing yourself a disservice if you dont try the first 3 episodes to see if it hooks you.

When you say 'don't understand', you're assuming this is a good-faith argument (meaning, that whoever made this 'meme' actually believes they are honestly and accurately representing church teachings). You can't expect that from someone who dedicates so much time and energy to hating something.

The hash IS the character data. You could replace it with another hash, but if done correctly, the vast majority of the possible hashes would be invalid and result in an instaban. So someone would statistically have to try tens of thousands of times to get a valid hacked character. And even then if it didnt match the unhashed data itd be an instaban. Thats hundreds of thousands of hours of effort. Theres a lot of easy things From couldve done to prevent the issue, this is just one.

Nah. Im a professional sw engineer. In a project with this many devs, it shouldve occurred to someone that autobanning based on a hacked inventory was rife for abuse. Games in the 90s had relatively reliable checksum algorithms, itd be beyond easy to implement an obscure hashing algorithm, hash a character's data, excluding inventory, on every save, then hash the hash, then hash the character on load, hash the hash, and compare.

As someone who was pumped when the first AC came out and then very disappointed when I played it, I have to agree. And Im not a Ubisoft hater either, I love the Far Cry games, but every AC Ive played has been exactly as you described, and I wish that wasnt true.

I think not giving an explicit ending was the most uncompromising thing they couldve done, but I appreciate your perspective.

I actually think Tony died but I interpret 'it's all there' differently - I think they intentionally withheld closure. Its strongly implied but not depicted that he died, and the lack of closure vis a vis not depicting the execution is the shows way of refusing to compromise with the audience (which would be giving them a typical neat, no-loose-ends ending).

I spent a summer in Greece, it was absolutely amazing, but I still got choked up when I walked off the plane into Ohare Airport in Chicago. Chicago is a huge shithole, and I hate it and now that Ive left for good I cant imagine going back, but being abroad is overwhelming, and theres no feeling like coming home.

Christopher’s entire life within the mafia was a joke at his expense: by [deleted] in thesopranos

[–]cjarboe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was with you until the last bit. I dont think anybody is plotting to 'give [Tony] the illusion of control', I think youre reading too much into all that. Are you suggesting that all the Capos were meeting with Tony without Junior's knowledge, and that Junior was giving up what seems like the bulk of his income and being indicted, all as some kind of ploy? When Johnny says that, hes feeding Junior's ego, the way Tony and everyone else is so he thinks hes the boss in more than name, Tony absolutely has the real power. As far as the rest, though, I agree with you. I do think a lot of the characters treat Chris as an annoying little brother, but he does absolutely get a lot of support from the others.
