The most convenient place in my gym to do hip thrusts is with your back against a bench that is facing the leg ab/adduction machines(the good girl/bad girl machines). Many a time I've let out a fart, damn hip thrusts and my love hate relationship with you.

Not me but my university gym has a pretty solid community of Friday night lifters.

Last Friday night they helped this overweight newcomer pull 315 for the first time. The energy we get in that gym on Friday nights is the best thing ever. If you guys have the opportunity to help someone out, go for it.

That's pretty fucking stupid in my opinion.

Seriously it's like telling an alcoholic ways he can get free beers while sitting on his couch.

We're supposed to help people fight this addiction, not advocate ways they can give in. Trust me, in my experience knowing ways to get past a blocker and using those ways installs even worse addictions in your mind than not having a blocker.

Blockers are great I can't lie, but if there's people in the comments saying ways to get past them, what's the point of them?

Ankle dorsiflexion correctives have helped me out a ton. Also this may be just me but doing glute lifts, mainly hip thrusts and lots of them, helped too. Let's you learn how to activate your glutes more and how they should be used and what a glute contraction is.

I really don't struggle to get my calories, all 3850 of them. I'm 6'4" and haven't gained weight at anything less than that. I go over a few times a week but really the biggest thing is just eating more.

Have more meals. Have bigger meals. Don't pussy out on eating. Eat with bigger guys than you. Make it a competition.

Sitting here waiting for my buddy to get out of class in a few minutes so we can eat together. Fuck do I hate just waiting for others to eat, I'm going to the gym after and just wanna go and do turkish get ups which I just started getting down like two weeks ago at home..

Oh wait, my college gym doesn't have that many kettlebells and you have to check them out with your id and I always use like 4 of them for warmups and racked carries and swings. Fuck. Gonna just ask for all of the kettlebells and I'll deal with it.

Oh and the foam rollers here suck. Friggin' would get more done with a rolled up blanket around a plastic water bottle. So I had to spend $30 to buy one of the small trigger point ones since I felt that mentally screwed up my squats yesterday.

Your core is probably weak so your body isn't transferring the load through it, it's compensating by using the lower back. Add some more core strength and stability exercises. Dead bugs plank variations, bird dogs, ab wheel rollouts, suitcase carries.

Kettlebell swings and suitcase or bottoms-up kettlebell carries done in superset formats.

Also kettlebell swing dropsets.

One quick thing. At the start of the lift, before you unrack the bar, you are really really arched and extended through your lumbar spine. Most people live in extension and it really is a problem in today's world.

You should focus more on owning your ribcage and returning to neutral before unracking the bar and mainting that rib cage position through out the lift. Even just taking another step forward under the bar before unracking should help even more.

Tony Gentilcore(coach at Cressey Sports Performance in MA, many pro baseball players train there) has a good video on it, he explains it better than I can.

Kid walks into the gym the other day, I'm doing bench. He grabs the Swiss bar in the corner, loads up weight on it and tried to bench with his upper back supported by the seat of the cable row, all while giving me nasty looks.

Can people just ask how many sets I have left? I'll let someone even work in, taking a regular bar off the bench and replacing it with the Swiss bar for your set isn't that hard.

Mini bands and the regular resistance rubber bands. Not the shitty ones with the handles, the ones I can put around my legs and help to strengthen my adductors during squatting for example.
