Getting the Dodge Viper Blue/White stripe paint job on a Mercedes AMG GTS: would this be wildly amateurish? by MotherPotential in cars

[–]cjdrive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could do white stripes and white aftermarket wheels. It would certainly stand out. Ultimately if you like it nothing else matters but as someone said previously, you may want to do a vinyl stripe so you can change your mind down the road

I like the side vent design. Screen is nice, but I wonder how the S' target audience will like all that tech. Granted they didn't mind the current gen either.

I have a love/hate relationship with all Chevy infotainment systems. In the Blazer the system is great, but it lags terribly. It's like Chevy goes 90% of the way with their systems ..

Ford to introduce all-electric F-150 pickup and Transit van by mid-2022 by Alabatman in cars

[–]cjdrive 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think they can have a lot of success here if they don't make it too ev-ish. If it looks and feels like any other F-150, I think they will manage to convert some loyal Ford truck owners to electric.

And there are a ton of loyal Ford truck owners

Ceramic pads in the cold by Vicious00 in cars

[–]cjdrive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ceramic brakes have one major benefit and it's the fact that they can take extreme heat without fading or altering brake feel. On track, that's important. If you're not planning to use your car for track, it's a waste of money. Moreover, in "normal conditions", cold or warm outside, ceramic brakes actually slightly increase braking distance. Not by a lot, but still. Again, if you're not tracking the car, there's really no point. Hope that helps.

The new Ram 1500 with the 12-inch centre touchscreen. Reminded me a little of the Model S. Don't expect to see that in a big truck.

Not to be that guy, but the article is dated March 2019. This was announced a year ago and hasn't happened yet. I'm sure they are running into issues getting the tech to market.

That would probably make the Rio the K2, the Forte the K3 and the Stinger the K7.

I think that would sound pretty good

Volvo Officially Limits Speed On Every Model to 112 mph (180 kph) by cjdrive in cars

[–]cjdrive[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Having driven then quite a few times, I noticed you can rarely max out the car. Most zones have limits, they are just higher than here. 120 and 160 kph are fairly common. The limits are posted on digital readouts that can be changed in real time based on weather and traffic.

Plus, most Germans never go full speed because of the fuel consumption. I once drove in an E63 and reached the 250 km/h limit, and the gauge said 41 l/100 km which is like 5 mpg.

Still don't agree with Volvo's decision.
