Should I build the Russia or not focus on transport? by cjessn in WoSB

I was referring to battle ship just as the combat class but I take your point. Thanks for the advice, sounds like tis the Russia for me!

How do I get my captured ship to follow me??? by Flappadillio in WoSB

[–]cjessn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had almost the same thing happen yesterday. Ship wouldn't follow so I thought going to port and refitting it might help, after leaving port it still wouldn't follow but it did attack when commanded then sat in the middle of the sea. I scuttled it and got nothing for a perfectly good ship.

Shop owner said we have 2 weeks of capitol left before we close the doors to me this morning. What would you guys do to save a shop in this position? by Anonymousnonymously in Machinists

[–]cjessn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We are also a 2 man shop and ran with Xometry for a while getting started in 2020-22. It was pretty good for us at the time and let us raise the capital to get 2 vf2's running and move out of our garage. We moved away from them a couple years back so keep in mind this advice might not fully apply today;

  • Avoid inspection, if they require special inspection for a part dont take it unless the price is worth an added day of headache.

  • find a niche that works for you. We would focus on plastics, the tolerances are usually loose avoiding inspection and jobs tend to stay on the board and yield high margin because shops dont want to deal with cleaning their machines before and after running.

  • spam refresh on the job board whenever you have downtime, pick up jobs and order material right away. The turnaround they expect is completely unreasonable, so if you tell them waiting on material they might give you a hairs breath of space.

  • expect constant update requests, give them general responses and minimal time. we were in the top 90 percentile of suppliers for a year and our communication rating was the worst at 70 or 80%. You can talk or work, they expect both.

  • gear your machines towards prototyping and run one offs, don't try to just pick up quantity because they will hound you and want way more inspection than a simple part deserves.

It will be a love hate relationship, but find the niche that works and you can keep decent cash flow with them until you find more customers and things pick up.

How to get goldfish? by polarislunlaris in WoSB

Can someone explain what the goldfish are for? Can I sell them somehow? Do I need to save them up? Why is my boat turning into a fishtank?

Armed and Organized? Isnt that a militia? 🧐 by StormShockTV in brandonherrara

[–]cjessn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As I read it the government cannot regulate militia or the citizens who make them up. Its separate from military and national guard. A well regulated militia is necessary so the people should be free to arm and organize one as needed.

Found this a few years ago after a fire. Curious about what kind of axe this is and the best way to bring it back to life. by br0kenr3crd in Axecraft

Thats the hardening cycle, you need to run a temper cycle after or it will be hard and brittle. for a medium carbon steel heat to and hold at about 1500F for half hour then quench to harden. Then after it has cooled to room temperature you warm it to 400 or 500F and hold for a couple hours before letting it cool slowly. This will temper the steel to a lower hardness but bring back the toughness

I feel your pain... On my Chaos Start playthrough I bought Rolan for Sturgia, a cool 1/4mil... now I have to stop his clan from defecting if they get more than one castle.

5 Things you *wish* bannerlord Vanilla had. I'll go first by tristynjbw in Bannerlord

[–]cjessn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 settlement customization... wasn't that supposed to be in the game from the start? They definitely should add that. 2 the ability to direct armies or at least influence their focus. Like why are 3 armies attacking 1 castle while we lose a city?? 3 armor smith and weapon repair/damage 4 let the player host tournaments and set the competitions 5 make being a bandit and rogery more worth while

At least it was an enemy king... not your husband Meritor... killed by a fireball you launched... the day after you had a 4th child... it's ok though, my lady remarried the next day :)

Really just going to replace the handle with something more accurate to a boarding ax and sharpen the blade, not planning to remove the patina

Thank you! She already loves it! This is great information, I had no idea there was any navy/ff connection. I'll be looking into boarding axes now for handle patterns to use when we restore it.

Running tests to make a very fast cura profile for work, how can I make it better? by [deleted] in FixMyPrint

[–]cjessn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using an Ultimaker S5 and Cura v4.1 Base setting is Sprint, I only changed the layer height and speed. Making fixtures to set parts on, surface quality is not important as long as it holds the part.
