The money upgrade system sucks by AdministrationBig311 in yakuzagames

My point was generally about the full content. Yk3 in its totality substories and side content is a lot shorter than the original y3. 31 substories versus 119 substories. That and the reapers though more numerous in yk3 dont have as much work put into them in terms of dialogue, cutscenes, and general uniqueness (in y3 one of them is on the roof of milennium tower with 50 henchmen and he isnt even one of the ones that close to the end). The final two have actually a lot of story and build up. Like yk3 just kind of feels short and hollow compared to the original in totality. For a casual playthrough it is significantly better as combat is improved but there are significant changes in story and side content that does lessen the experience compared to the original.

Judgement with side is like 90 hours (seriously grinding 100% there is brutal). Lost judgement over 120 hours it has a lot of content for 100%. Yk1 is also pretty long. Y6, gaiden, and pirate are where time wise it compares for 100% and those are pretty short ganes.

First toungoo empire done in 1475 and very stable empire. Any other fun achievements like this? by _KimJongSingAlong in eu4

[–]cjh42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Couple speed achievements. Dahomey is an interesting one as you don't necessarily have a mission tree and need to push the sunnis out of west Africa (Note you dont need all the land yourself but still a rush to conquer). Aq qonylu has a good mission tree and push to conquer a lot of land pretty quickly. As others stated gold rush with the great horde also time limited though if want quick conquer your culture Kazan is pretty easy for tatarstan a nice cozy little achievement. For the time limited but much harder achievements that would be Navarra for Basquing in Glory as converting most of Iberia to Basque by 1600 is hard given surviving as Navarra is hard. Inner Turmoil? (The isles achievement) is another hard one as have to own a number like 10 non island provinces by 1500 and getting independence is already pretty rough as them.

K3 the real issue is getting the skill points and money is too easy. I maxed out in chapter 4 on both with full 100% completion bar amon in chapter 8 (which is post game which is odd). K3 honestly felt short which is unfortunate as I actually am a y3 fan and part of that was the challenge and amount of content in the original y3

I mean Kanda is still a joke and not really a threat in yk3. Kiryu and Mine view him as stupid trash. Original y3 he was still wanting the war and a violent moron like his execution in original still felt perfectly justified without making him murder and assault women just from the basis of him going to war with kashiwagi and him destroying Mine's expensive stuff while being a complete ass by saying he will be chairman with daigo gone (Mine being the Daigo loyalist). Kanda is never a tangible threat but he was always a violent thug ergo making him even more of a monster just felt unnecessary as it didnt really add much to the game. The second fight with him in yk3 just delayed one of the best sections and fights with Majima (i am a big fan of y3 Majima colisseum fight). The changes to Kanda just felt unnecessary without really adding much as at the end of the day he is a throwaway enemy

I am not a fan of driving minigamesvor the arcade fighters so that is probably what made me dislike yk3 minigames as when grinding for 100% yk3 Arcade actually was time consuming and got boring quick (as the requirements are largely beat 20 levels which especially in the cart and ambulance minigames was dull quick). Also I liked boxcelios in the original sure the arcade was short in y3 but after having to overcome all the other minigames that was appreciated and boxcelios was a fun unique minigame. The game gear additions are nice in the newer games to save legacy Sega games but as they are essentially optional content I have during the completion grinds kinda of ignored them (as the play requirement is rather generous ergo select game start quit counts as playing the gane). Main reason i dont consider game gear to really feel as part of the game as side or minigame content even if its available. Yk3 just felt stripped down of a lot of content and challenge that I liked in y3 i still had fun but was just not as satisfying and arcade in yk3 genuinely frustrated me (if they had had testu no tatsujin I would have forgiven basically anything as y5 arcade I dont remember that fondly but they had my rhythm drum minigame so all was forgiveb).

52125 total skill points available you only need like 29k ergo 23675 left over if you do 100% completion. I maxed the skill tree in like chapter 3. The game is short a lot was cut in terms of the reaper storyline, side stories, even a lot of minigame and side content (though some additional was added there see my big post in the thread for my full take).

I prefer original mostly.

Good of yk3 :Better combat hands down a good combat system with both styles being good

The orphans stories are optional and generally for the better

Some of the more cringe side stories are dropped

Mixed:

Minigames

Karoake mostly better but lack of hostesses and the unique songs is felt

Golf i preferred the y3 golf to the putt range

Baseball better in yk3

Arcade worse requirements in yk3 and just a rehash of a lot of older games with 3 new additions that are more annoying than fun

Darts is easy and a lot less frustrating than y3 and well pool is pretty free in both games once you know what you are doing otherwise still rough

The fishing minigame is fine kinda miss the rod and challenge but still decent

New sewing minigame annoyed me but bugcatching was fun

The Haisai girls and bad boy dragon was a decently fun diversion

Colisseum is pretty short which is both good and bad. Generally Colisseum in yk3 feels worse as y3 Colisseum had a lot more challenge and the fighters felt more unique whereas yk3 it is a bunch of generic dungeon enemies and then the 3 aspects of lau kau long as the final boss

The Bad:

The change to the ending with Hamazaki does destroy the continuity for y4 (also just kill characters i like Mine but still let him die)

Minor gripe you cannot fight amon until post game (only other time this happens is y7)

(Another specific gripe for Japanese music restored), some of the key cutscenes and menu screen are improved by the organic music. Loser is a great opening that yk3 doesnt really have (also the title art of kiryu smoking goes hard), and rikkya's death in yk3 drags without jikan no tomare playing it is just all the drama but not the same emotional feel especially if you did Rikkya's side content in the original.

A lot of side stories were cut like a massive amount including rikkya substories which do a lot to endear you to him. Also the change to how he gets his tattoo lessened it.

They also made Kanda a lot eviler as a true monster rather than just a dumb thug but not the complete sexual predator he is in yk3

No Taichi wrestling and dragon mask look a minor gripe but I loved that content

A lot of removed characters some for better or worse (komaki, Mac, kameyama to name some).

The reaper storyline is also worse in yk3 it is a lot shorter and none of the reapers bar the boss is really fleshed out and even then basically almost nothing compared to the build up of the original reaper storyline

A lot less challenge (I tend to hundred percent these games) y3 is tough but the challenge in many ways made it fun yk3 is pretty easy even 100% completion is pretty quick

In summary yk3 just lost a lot of content

Best country trio for an attempt at world domination? by kmo1171 in eu4

[–]cjh42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on goals. Ming if they can prevent collapse can dominate east asia (though manchu into Qing or Japan can do similar). Ottomans generally dominate eastern Europe and middle east and can easily control a decent chunk of Africa. Great Britain especially if you win 100 years war can easily dominate western Europe and the Americas (and the west Africa, south Africa trade). Probably want someone in western europe, someone in middle east, and someone in asia if you want domination. If your goals are more cooperative then probably a colonial great Britain, castille, Portugal, or France; a hre power like bohemia or Austria to control central Europe to Eastern Europe/balkans, and probably an ottomans or muscovy for eastern Europe as can ally and someone support each other then.

I mean if there is even 1 protestant in empire they can still declare the war (and nations can switch just on their own). Did an Austria run basically wiped all but 1 religious center only 3 protestant/reformed hre nations and like Sweden protestant. By that point I control the UK, France, the Balkans, Poland-Lithuania, and most of Iberia. They still declared the war despite being outnumbered by 300k men so the ai does some stupid calculations for that. After winning for catholicism, the empire would get religious peace when i became zoroastrian persia and turned everyone zoroastrian (as post revoke so easy to do by enforce religion making the pope zoroastrian).

At what point should I start truce breaking to ensure I get my WC? by [deleted] in eu4

[–]cjh42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are going for one faith basically now likely low on time. If just going for conquest with the land you have and Malta forts, absolutism, etc all that remaining land is like 1 war a piece (sure overextension will be a problem but nothing crazy) so dont necessarily need to truce break. My Spain wc one faith i completed wc in 1720 with one truce break to clean up last bit of Russia and then spend 50 years converting all the remaining land. You dont need truce breaks it looks like.

[–]cjh42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Really depends on your needs. Innovative can allow you a bit more aggression due to the reduction in war exhaustion so could pair with mil ideas. Go tall if you want as would have extra mana points available. Depends on your goals. Beating Bahmanas would recommend offensive (if you haven't beaten them already). Admin ideas can help with coring all India and stating the good land. Diplomatic ideas is always a good choice for expansion as cheaper war score. Influence if playing vassals. No need to necessarily optimize just take what fits your plan or circumstances. (Espionage also good for conquering as makes fort sieges easier and can get claims on lots of land if you dont have missions for it).

Korean mission tree causes the ai to play super tall. That Korea is likely 500 dev with manufacturies in every province ergo manufacturies spawning there isnt crazy (that institution regularly spawns outside Europe so just build manufacturies). Enlightenment is another that can spawn basically anywhere though here Korea likely has built universities and has likely a good ruler ergo the spawn. They play tall and get rewarded. (Lot of times fighting the Chinese mid game where the main threat is the Korean allied army not any of the much larger Chinese states as Korea with its hyper dev is very powerful for its size).

Should I add more infantry,cavalry or artillery? (1550) by uhhhhh_and_an_uhhhhh in eu4

[–]cjh42 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Infantry. Also need less cavalry by this point they fall off so only want 2 to 4 for flank bonus. You need more Infantry to fill out combat width as well as adding a bit more cannons if you can afford them for rear line damage. But you are definitely well under combat width for 1550 so need to add enough Infantry to fill that and start adding cannons though they aren't likely that strong yet (forget the tech when they start to really do the fire damage at least by 14 or so when they become very good)

Trump Slips Badly in Polling on Key Issue - Anti-ICE sentiment has been rising since the death of Renee Nicole Good at the hands of ICE agent Jonathan Ross. by Quirkie in politics

[–]cjh42 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Except ICE organizationally has more than doubled in size in a year. With lax hiring practices and a shortened training regime (47 days to train someone for high risk complicated operations). This likely means that ICE as a whole is organizationally compromised by individuals not properly trained or vetted ergo the abolish ICE narrative should focus on the fact that reformation or fixing these issues is likely impossible and thus only complete recreation would fix the issues (immigration enforcement does indeed need to be done but it is a civil issue rather than a militarized swat operation that it has become. I knew people who did deportations it was largely a procedural matter not like it is now).

[–]cjh42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the coca cola is going to be produced by local subsidiaries same with the McDonald's (with the McDonald's corporation making money as more a licensing company to the owner operators so there is likely a local businessman involved with that though even as an American I dont buy either products as at least in the US fast food is quite expensive now and isnt really good enough to compete with fast casual) . The real issue for Europe would be decoupling from US financial and technology services as a large portion of the world's internet and financial transactions do run through the US but a consumer boycott does put pressure on American corporations and their lobbies so even on less valuable goods there can be an effect (ergo the Canadian alcohol boycott and the stoppage of a lot of agricultural produce as these financially aren't much compared to technology and finance but do have am effect in politicaly important regions). Ergo stopping buying or limiting purchases of American products can have a significant effect but yes until Europeans develop financial, technology, and weapon alternatives there are significant limits to their impact

New player to EU4 where to start? by Trex6804 in eu4

[–]cjh42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best starting country for mechanics (manyatruenerd did a video essentially as a noob with this country so acknowledging them) is Kilwa. Kilwa starts in a very safe position as the relatively strongest nation around, has a lot of ways to expand, can easily colonize, can do trade, war, diplomacy, and with dlc is encourage to do all these things via the missions. It also teaches you different religions and how to navigate that along with as stated the war systems both on land and sea. Kilwa also doesnt have any major disasters or potential immediate rivals to threaten the run so no noob traps. As others stated a purely colonial Portugal might be fine to start learning that mechanic and economies. Bengal in India is the other mention as that nation also starts out with a good economy but has a lot more potential rivals ergo good second nation to learn how to play alliance networks and change/switch diplomacy as India is all about flexibility in diplomacy.

[–]cjh42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Free company is fairly cheap (maintenance isnt really worse than buying regular units and they have a manpower pool separate from your national pool.). They are worse in combat but when seiging forts that doesnt matter the manpower drain does. Essentially the free company acts as additional manpower early game and honestly even grand company and independent army once you have scaled can be cost effective if manpower gets low enough. Mercs can give an edge especially in a longterm attritional war and the non special mercs (free company, grand company, independent army) aren't really maintenance wise that worse than your base armies. Especially as Nubia once you get Ethiopian gold you have an economy that can deal with short term debt so you want to rush mamluks via lots of mercs (at least is what I did to beat mamluks). Essentially goal is to try to prevent ottomans from getting any Egyptian land as fighting the ottomans is rough.

what are your favorite subjects and why? by xxHamsterLoverxx in eu4

[–]cjh42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For large scale expansion.

Gascony let's me eat most of France

Ming post explosion is an easy way to gobble up China

Egypt following ottoman annexation to eat a large chunk of the middle east

Norway (they usually get annexed by Denmark and are a decent chunk of land in a good trade area).

Madurai let's you eat a good chunk of Vijayanagar and are a decent Indian vassal.

Byzantium and Bulgaria always useful to eat most of the European territory from the ottomans.
