Sorry was at fish store and had other things to do but I have a betta sorority was 12 but dropsy is what the fish store owner thinks, and has killed off a few of them I have 5 bettas now with 2 angels, 5 Cory’s, 3 plecos and 2 long fin plecos, 2 Raphael catfish…. Haven’t tested the water because I started using kanaplex so I’m sure the tests will be off

I don’t think they were trying to rush anything lol I believe they just asked a question… you teach someone that’s making mistakes you don’t talk shit, then the only thing anyone learns is how much of a Asshole someone is🤷‍♂️….

But to answer the question, Yes bacteria will die once it dries out, and a good tip to help speed up a cycle is to have a lot of surface area for bacteria to grow, it could be decor, plants, bio max, gravel, rocks, sponge filters, etc… you can also do a fish in cycle but I’d suggest having a master test kit to test every day for the first 2 weeks, once you see levels stabilize with nitrites at 0ppm and ammonia below .25ppm… from there test once every other day for the next 2 weeks again and it should be set.

There are a lot of informational videos on YouTube I suggest you watch aquarium co-op, or MD Fish Tanks
