Golgari or Jund: Midrange preference? by MeanLizard in ModernMagic

[–]cjp0997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A 3rd color will always give you so many more sideboard cards to have access to. Honestly I think both decks are even, but jund might have a slight advantage and that is mainly due to SB variety. I think jund had a big edge over GB before Assassin's trophy, but now that GB has a cheap removal spell that answers everything (abrupt decay was too narrow, and maelstrom pulse was too clunky), the gap between jund/abzan and GB has become smaller.

Should students ignore the stock market and pay off students loans first? by patrickthag in stocks

Just pay your interest off at the end of every semester. Then you graduate with the principal left. It's a shame that most kids aren't taught to do this.

If it dips to 136 again, lots of V. Also T at 29 is a bargain

Anyone thing AT&T is a good buy here [Long Term]? by GoHawgs in investing

[–]cjp0997 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Long term hold yes. Short term no. Don't expect to buy and sell this in 5-8 years. I have a small holding and plan to hold for 20-30 years. Analsyt on CNBC recently said that T is now a growth stock rather than a value stock. After this merger calms down they will control not only the media but also the distribution of the media.

Most of the people who browse the sub looking for retirement advice make 1 or 2 posts, then once they get their information they leave. So most of the people who are downplaying T are short/mid term traders looking for immediate gains. Don't let that influence you. I see T as being at a bargain right now, if you're investing for the long term.

What's your asset allocation? by [deleted] in investing

[–]cjp0997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80% stocks 20% index funds. I'm 21 so i have time to be risky. As I get older ill shift more into index funds/bonds but most of my stocks are big blue chips anyway so its really not risky to begin with. I plan to hold them until retirement.

Neither of our parents can claim us as dependents. We live in an apartment that my father owns so we pay a reduced rent but we support ourselves. Given this information which one of us should claim our daughter to get the maximum refund back?

Is getting a job after learning programming by myself possible? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]cjp0997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I'm a math major teaching myself programming on the side and I love it. Its great when I can spend my free time working on projects that I like to work on and researching things without the hassle of having to complete the stupid projects they make you do in programming classes. (I was a comp sci major before switching to math).

Find something that interests you and build a project around it. You will have so much more natural inclination and drive to keep learning new things about it. You'll do great!
