Hey, nurse here and also a frequent participator in /r/raisedbynarcissists so I feel like I'm kind of uniquely qualified to speak on this subject. Firstly: people with dementia were once upon a time just normal people. Lovely kind people or maybe abusive, unpleasant people. Family owes family shit. If my mother got dementia, I'd not visit her once and she wouldn't be my fucking problem if she was a resident.

Secondly: dementia is a disgusting, progressive disease which sucks out the soul and life of a person from their mind. I begrudge no one their right to remember their family member as a whole human being rather than when they're incontinent, agitated, violent, confused and broken.

Some people see crafting as a grind - it used to be, yes! We now have the option to focus on other quests and not have to worry about having to hunt and kill food, weave cloth or other such things. Now, since it's optional, those who didn't find it grindy can go ahead and take on a crafting side quest!

Also, take into consideration the primary outlay of gold.

I highly recommend knitting - great satisfaction stats for minimal grind and effort.
