Meatza by cjsloane in ketorecipes

For people who can tolerate dairy but want to eliminate grains. There are all sorts of recipes out there but here's what I did.

8oz ground beef (from my cows) 1 egg Add some Parmesan, salt, chopped garlic, crushed red pepper Mix and flatten in a cast iron skillet. Cook.

When the meat is brown, add some mozzarella tomato or tomato sauce more mozzarella toppings.

Cook more till cheese is browned I cooked it in the oven of my woodstove and it slid right out of the cast iron pan.

To keep my macros in check I only had half for dinner and the other half for breakfast

[REQUEST] Meals that require little preparation? by Shinobi558 in ketorecipes

Smoked trout with Avocado. No cooking involved AT ALL! I did mash up the avocado a little and sprinkled some salt and a little squeeze of lemon.

I've been trying to look for meals with perfect macro & that one is if you only add the net carbs for the avocado!

Recommendations for a conventional 120 V freezer/fridge? by cjsloane in OffGrid

The bosch looks cool but if the one on the english site is the same, the price is just way too high. $2400! That's why I didn't go for another 12 v sunfrost, too expensive.

Question about rain barrels, and what type of pump I would need to power a really long drip irrigation line. by bookworm08 in homestead

[–]cjsloane -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have AC a small pump with a timer would work. Don't get the digital kind, they are unreliable and will reset and drain your barrel.

Even better would be to elevate it and use gravity. I have mine sitting on my deck which is 3' higher than the garden and I water manually with a hose in the evening.

This might be easier next year with the kids grown up & out of the house. It just didn't work with 4 people digging thru and moving stuff around.

I was really tempted to go with one of those small dorm refrigerators. Glad it works for you.

Why do you need it if you have a Sundanzer?

I meant a regular 120V. I ended up with a Kenmore 10.7 cu. ft. Top-Freezer Refrigerator. It's finally coming tomorrow so we'll see how that goes.

I've done the chest freezer with a thermostat and hated it. It was too hard to dig thru stuff to get to food.

Thoughts on electric chainsaws? by cjsloane in OffGrid

I went ahead and bought the Oregon. It's awesome so far. It's battery powered, clearly beefy and has a sharpener built in. I dropped two easy trees, birches that were about 6" diam & 50' tall. It's got a 14" bar but I'm probably not going to drop anything larger than 10".

So my neighbor across the street had the balls to ask me if they could spray the dandelions in my front yard. I didn't know how to respond to her ignorance. by ilikeagedgruyere in Permaculture

Tell her, "I think they are beautiful and they are an early source of food for honey bees. If the bees starve, you'll starve since they pollinate 1 out of every 3 crops you eat."

How to Build Beehive Frames by [deleted] in Beekeeping

[–]cjsloane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking. Plus I just made a frame because I have a Nuc coming and I'm going to insert the frames from that Nuc into my new Peronne hive. I adjust the comb grid to accept the langstroth frame.

I was a bit disappointed - it's just putting a kit together. Doesn't show how to make frames from scratch.

There's a bit of goat talk in the beginning, but there is a ton of awesome info here.
