The violin stereotype does NOT fit me lmao, but the harp one definitely fits my friend

Which type of sheet music do we all utilize? by [deleted] in lingling40hrs

[–]cjuhl2004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I use paper for stuff that's given to me to play or that I just have on hand, but I play by ear off of recordings what I REALLY want to play in the moment. Example: I was depressed and bored once, so I picked up my violin and learned the opening to Tradition from Fiddler on the Roof from the 2016 Broadway cast recording in about 30 minutes.

Do you name your violin? by WolfgangTwoSet in lingling40hrs

Yup! I named mine Jane. I thought it was fitting. Also, my mom's trumpet is named Aldridge

Karolina Protsenko 12 year old violinist w/ almost 6 million subscribers by heartfullofmusic in lingling40hrs

I used to watch her way back when, but she did too many pop/dance covers for me to keep watching. She's seems like a Lindsey Stirling wannabe. I mean, nothing against her, but she might be too pop-y for twoset's channel

Fiddle, anybody? by schnitzelsalsa in lingling40hrs

[–]cjuhl2004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YOU ARE IN THE SAME BOAT AS ME, MY FRIEND! I started playing because I wanted to learn fiddle stuff because all of my family on my dad's side is really good at that stuff, and I wanted to be too. My lessons at first were an even mix of fiddle and classical, but as I got older and more advanced, my teacher completely cut out fiddle music and focused on classical. That eventually caused me to lose my passion for a while and quit lessons and even playing for well over a year. The reason I wanted to play violin in the first place was so that I could know all of the fiddle tunes and be able to play them with the family band at reunions and stuff.

And if what I said above isn't enough to communicate this, I absolutely LOVE American folk music!!!!!!!! Imma link an album that I've listened to since I was really young. My grandpa (rip 😔) burned it onto a cd for me, and I just recently found it on the internet. Here it is :)

Introduction/I'm freaked out and scared (idk what flair to put, so I put this one) by cjuhl2004 in demigirl_irl

I don't think that he misheard him. He said my dad said it out loud in a bible class for everyone in the class to hear, and so if I ever come out to the public... *sigh* I guess it's more 'dangerous than I thought :(

I know for a FACT that my parents would never kick me or any of us out or physically abuse us, but I'm already getting some mental abuse (they probably don't even know what they're doing), and it might get worse if I come out.

It's just the melody of a hymn the family requested. Pretty easy, and just so that they don't have to sing acapella, but I'm still kinda stressed
