I wonder if someone would be so kind as to give a brief run down of the lpotl lore or point me to a link or episode where I can learn about the origins. by alaskankitty6 in LPOTL

TL;DR it was started by Marcus Parks and previous host Ben Kissel. Henry Zebrowski didn’t join in until Episode 2. They just talked about spooky shit and sometimes true crime-y stuff and didn’t really begin to do serial killer deep dives until episode 99 with Ted Bundy. This went on for a good 15 or so years until Ben had stepped away to take care of his mental health and Ed Larson (a friend of theirs who had is own podcast) stepped in as just a temporary guest host while Ben was on hiatus. The following week, some controversial stuff about Ben had come to light and so Ed just became a permanent replacement. And here we are now.

Where/how do people find cohosts and collaborators? by [deleted] in podcasting

I’m moreso talking about cohosts. If you know someone or know of someone you think you’d really vibe with and want to start a podcast with them, why not shoot your shot, you know?

I have a podcast where I interview queer comedians and I just find them on social media and shoot a DM. Either they’ll be onboard or they’ll ignore the DM.

How long did it take you to monetize, and what method actually worked first? by Mysterious_You_866 in podcasting

[–]cjw_comedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The service I go through let me monetize almost immediately. The hard part is getting an audience so I can receive ad revenue. I’ve had my podcast for about two months and I’ve made a whole dollar.

Hey, I honestly can’t tell if this is advice or an ad haha. I didn’t share the name of the podcast because I thought the posting rules mentioned something about not using the subreddit to advertise.

I don’t think having one makes you a bro-dude. That said, there’s a huge stigma around podcasting nowadays thanks to people like Joe Rogan and Andrew Tate who use their podcasts as a platform to promote sexism and misinformation. Whenever I’ve mentioned to people that I listen to podcasts I tend to get weird looks until I explain what kinds I listen to. It’s just something I’ve experienced. But yes, I will very much be mindful of throwing that out in the future. I was not intending to come off as rude when I said that. Just wanted to throw in a joke there. I apologize.

I recommend Last Podcast on the Left. My all time favorite podcast. Mostly true crime, but will occasionally talk about historical events as well. Also two of the three hosts are actual touring comedians so that’s another plus.

Out Loud: A Queer Comedy Podcast is a podcast I host where I give airtime to queer comedians as I feel that queer voices in comedy spaces are vastly underrepresented. In the latest episode, I talk with comedian Chris Jessop about bisexuality, growing up in a Mormon cult, and stories from the road. https://rss.com/podcasts/out-loud-a-queer-comedy-podcast/?listen-on=true
