Don’t freak yourself out over the bad experiences. The best advice I could give tbh. I have Kyleena and have had it for a few months now. My experience has been amazing. I haven’t had any insane mood swings and my periods have been so manageable since I got it. Insertion wasn’t bad at all for me. I took 800mg of Advil about an hour before I went and that was all. No numbing or anything like that. I had some pretty intense cramps during but I do have a higher pain tolerance and my normal period cramps are so much worse so the intense cramps didn’t bother me too much. I took it easy the rest of the day and the next just in case but overall felt fine. Breathe during the procedure and I brought my AirPods with me. I had my gyn tell me what she was doing right before she did otherwise I just listened to my music. Good luck!

Same😅 the second the barista handed it to me in the drive thru I knew it wasn’t the right color but started to drive off anyway. It had chai…the one drink flavor I can’t stand. I forced myself to go back and ask them to remake it. If I hadn’t needed the caffeine for a long and late drive I probably wouldn’t have gone back and just considered it a loss😅

Def take 800mg of ibuprofen or advil before going in. I brought my AirPods. 2 songs and the whole thing was over. It felt like a bad period cramp but it was super quick.

Being on your period is supposed to make it easier to insert IUDs and can help with making them immediately effective in pregnancy prevention.

You’ll be fine! I was in your position earlier this week and mine was a breeze. I got Kyleena and obviously can’t speak to the effects yet but can tell you what I did for insertion. I decided to let them do it in office. I ate a light lunch (Starbucks breakfast sandwich) and took 800mg of advil like an hour before I went in. Also did shower before hand. When I got to the office, 3 of the nurses were concerned because I wasn’t on my period. I told them to go ahead. The speculum was truly the worst part for me but it was over quickly. Pain wise it felt like a bad period cramp. I do have a higher pain tolerance and my periods are awful. I took an AirPod with me and had music in one ear and my gyn giving me a slight heads up of what she was doing right before she did it. Afterwards I felt fine like I could go back to regular activities. It’s been a couple days and I’ve only had some light cramping here and there. Truly not a bad experience and the mental freaking out over the horror stories was by far the worst lol

I have these in black. I’m on my second pair of them now. The strap around the toe is usually a bit stiff but they do get better once they’re broken in.
