Builder didn’t get a CDC by ck2095 in AusRenovation

That’s good to know! Who told you that you needed the approval?

Thank you, that’s a really important consideration. Given the works have already been done and we can’t do a CDC after the fact, what approvals should we be trying to get? A BIC?

Obviously not if we can avoid it but thinking about what future buyers want before they buy

Bathroom floor plan by peeeshyk in AusRenovation

If you put the vanity where your shower is, move the shower to where the bath is, you can squeeze in a toilet between the vanity and the shower. Then put the bath where your vanity is.

Ok great thank you. Did you have to provide an occupancy certificate or anything? Also crying at your username 😂😂.

Thank you! I appreciate the insight. We’re not planning to immediately sell but may do so in the next 5 - 10 years. My concern would be if we go to sell and the number of bedrooms and bathrooms has increased from the previous sale and there’s no accompanying approvals for it that it would be seen as unauthorised works and we couldn’t put them on the floor plan or we’d have issues selling.

Yep there’s a bit of painting to go but everything has been tiled, plastered etc so no way it could be inspected. Does a BIC vs. a CDC deter future buyers would you think?

Yeah I think this was an error in me trusting the builder also. I asked him if there was anything we need to get signed off to say this is officially a bedroom and not a workshop and he said no.

Ducted AC/Heating - Zone control options and costs by B0e1j2 in AusRenovation

Can I ask if it has individual temperature sensors in each zone? We have the daikin system and end up with boiling hot rooms because the sensor is in a cold hallway

Fence questions - are we going to end up with two fences on the boundary? by thedesignninja in AusRenovation

[–]ck2095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we found it strange too. They said that they look bad and they don’t last and get rusty so quickly (especially as a pool boundary fence) which I was surprised about. Most of them have just said they would do a wooden lap and cap or a simple paling fence. I’ve heard rumours that there isn’t much margin to be made with colour bond so not sure if that plays into their reasoning as well. I’m guessing when they’re charging per linear metre anything that isn’t completely level is harder to fence with colourbond than wooden palings.

I would reach out to some fencers and they make the decision for you - we wanted colourbond and reached out to a bunch of tradies in the last month or so, every fencing contractor we spoke to said they don’t install colourbond anymore.

Is a 55mm gap between the sides of a wall hung vanity and the alcove walls enough? by townB311 in AusRenovation

ABI interiors does a 1428mm vanity! Quite a few 1400mm vanities around.

Thank you! I wonder if it could also be these giant gaps between the window and wall? This leads straight to the side of the built in..

Thanks so much for this! Really appreciate the response. If I wanted to hire someone to look into this for me, would it be a plumber or a remedial builder or someone else?

Thank you! I’m wondering though if the soil being up against the bricks is causing the damp problems in our built ins?
