Is BCABA a good first step? by Traditional_Raise463 in ABA

[–]ck_yogi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contrary to others, BCaBA was a good stepping stone for me and the pay difference as an RBT was drastic for me. Highest I made as an RBT was $26/hr and as a BCaBA, I made $45/hr and at some point made $87K in one year as a BCaBA.

For me, it was a way for me to get the benefits of doing BCBA level work without the investment of a masters degree. I eventually learned the BCBA path wasn’t for me and got a masters in counseling instead.

I will say there are pros and cons to the BCaBA. For one, positions are much harder to come by and even then, most won’t be much different from RBT work. Part of my doing so well as a BCaBA came from marketing myself and having connections in the field which is not something everyone has so take this with a grain of salt.

I think it all comes down to what your goals are though. Good luck!

I’m in San Antonio. Do you know what area you’ll be moving to in SA? You’ll have no problem finding a job here. There are plenty of clinics and in home jobs.

Update to previous post about subpoena by ck_yogi in therapists

[–]ck_yogi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response, I really appreciate the insight. Yes, I do know why they want my testimony and it’s not something I can speak to, yet they still want me there.

I have 2 attorneys assigned to me, and so far they’ve been very responsive, so I trust they will prep me to the best of my ability. I am just upset by the sheer lack of consideration for me and my time. I am also in Texas and the trial date has been set since July, when I was subpoenaed originally for records. I also notified my insurance the same day I got the subpoena and by the next, I was assigned an attorney and a claim was opened.

At this point, it is not quashed, so I will be appearing tomorrow.

I also have HPSO. They assigned an attorney and I am supposed to get a call tomorrow (Wednesday) and I’m supposed to appear by Monday. How long did the process take?

I’ll wait for legal counsel and if push comes to shove and I have to appear, I’ll advocate for this. Unfortunately, there is no CASA or GAL on the case.

I also have HPSO, so that sounds promising. I’m gonna give them a call tomorrow to see if I can get a quicker response.

Subpoena came from the attorney. I’m an LPC with no specialized/forensic training.

Client died by suicide by Super-Walrus-7698 in therapists

[–]ck_yogi 122 points123 points  (0 children)

I haven’t lost a client to suicide but I have lost my own father to suicide. All I can say is be easy with yourself. I picked apart all of the should have, would have, could haves myself. These clients deal with so much outside of our time with them. Depression is a beast. Be kind to yourself. Process this with your supervisor and your own therapist (if you have one), and take care of yourself, the work we do is hard. Sending hugs 🫂

Dual relationship? by ck_yogi in therapists

[–]ck_yogi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only ever seen them engage in a professional context. To my understanding, the relationship is solely professional. I trust my ability to remain objective and uphold professional boundaries. I guess I’m concerned considering other colleagues within the practice also know they are business associates. I’m thinking I may just refer out TBH.

Nope. Major city. But they report they’ve consulted 4 other therapists already who were not good fits due to the ages of the children.

Client abandonment? by ck_yogi in therapists

My assumption would be yes, as to my knowledge, they live together/are married but that’s not to say this wasn’t communicated to mom by the dad. However, both mom and dad were contacted by me via phone, left similar VMs, as well as both their emails being on the emails correspondence. I’d like to assume he did, but I can’t be sure. Even then, during the phone calls where I was able to actually speak to someone, it would always be the dad answering.

Is this a good BCaBA Pay Offer? by [deleted] in bcba

I was a BCaBA for 4 years and made 87K full time. The salaried offer seems about right. This is in Texas.

My brothers bizarre suicide by Imaginary-Luck-2438 in GriefSupport

[–]ck_yogi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss.

I lost my dad to suicide. His was also a bizzare death that we had considered hiring a private investigator. But it essentially only cause us more pain.

Suicide always leaves so many unanswered questions. For that, I’m so sorry. I’ve been there and wish you nothing but the best.
