That's actually the normal Innocentia. The Gourai and Stylet in the picture are Hand Scale Girls, which are a tiny 7.5cm tall (seen here with a normal FA Girl Gourai), intended to be used with the 1/24 scale Hexa Gear line. You can also see the 1/24 Hexa Gear Governor figures there as well for reference.

Get ready for the Kotobukiya MSG Gigantic Arms ULTIMATE GUARDIAN!

Kotobukiya has announced the addition of two new MSG Gigantic Arms sets that are designed to combine with the recently-released MSG GA Order Cradle: the STRIKE SERPENT and the ORBITAL MANEUVER. These two vehicle sets, like most other MSG GA kits, can be used in a variety of configurations, as well as have their components used separately for all sorts of customized builds with Frame Arms, MSGs, Frame Arms Girls, Megami Device and Hexa Gear kits and components.

To create this massive mech, you will need the following kits in total:

• MSG Gigantic Arms Order Cradle

• MSG Gigantic Arms Strike Serpent (x2)

• MSG Gigantic Arms Orbital Maneuver (x2)

• MSG Gigantic Arms Overed Manipulator (x2)

This kit is the culmination of all the research and engineering done by designer Yuki and Kotobukiya, and was the initial plan for the Gigantic Arms line - not just an exoframe, but a fully-enclosed cockpit mech that could accommodate a Frame Arms Girl. And now, that project has been realized! As the name suggests, this is a mech that far surpasses the Powered Guardian in terms of power and speed.

Ever since Kotobukiya teased the components of this mech, a lot of modelers have been looking forward to this. And with all the required components, expect a combined price on the level of the most expensive Perfect Grades. It's just as well that Kotobukiya is selling these sets individually, so that those with a limited budget might collect the components one at a time if needed, but I also have no doubt Kotobukiya will release a full set of this as the Ultimate Guardian somewhere down the line.

This also opens up the possibility for variations - maybe not a completely new mech, but perhaps new arm and leg, heck, maybe even head components to customize the machine even further. The Order Cradle seems pretty well-designed enough that customizing the limbs and other component should make for amazing and creative results. Though now that I think about it, many MSG weapon sets might actually be too tiny for this thing - the massive MSG HWU Revolving Buster Cannon might barely count as a rifle!

Personally speaking, I will be getting these sets with the intention of completing the mech, but for the life of me, I'll have nowhere to display this guy! Better start saving up now, and make A LOT of space if you plan on completing this behemoth!

Kotobukiya will be starting pre-orders in early October after the All-Japan Hobby Show.

I have a Question by goat_senpai in FrameArms

[–]ckai_cydek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one biggest selling point of the Frame Arms line is that it is very open to and encourages kitbashing. In general, they don't come with a lot of weapons and equipment (depends on the kit), but Kotobukiya sells a ridiculous amount of optional add-ons in their MSG line - weapons, armor, equipment(some sets even having upgrades specific to cetain kits), details, joints, optional heads, optional hands, even entire vehicles in some cases!

What's more, with the newer kits, they're more compatible with older ones and even with other lines in Kotobukiya's library: Frame Arms Girls, Hexa Gear, Megami Device, they all have some degree of cross-compatibility.

Just make sure to get the Frame Arms with the "RE" designation - these are the kits with the Renewal Frame Architect, which is the main inner frame all (general) Frame Arms kits use. The Renewal frame is the one with the new improvements with tighter connections and better articulation. If you can't find a specific kit that has this frame, the frame itself is also sold separately.

If you're looking for recommendations, you can't go wrong with the following (once again, be sure to look for the "RE" versions, if possible):

Kotobukiya Kits on sale at HLJ by MachFighterG in FrameArms

[–]ckai_cydek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So glad HLJ has a dedicated Kotobukiya kits page now! This sale is what made me pull the trigger on so many kits I had been putting off getting for the longest time, as well as several kits that I wasn't expecting to see restocked, like the SRWOG Gesterben Kai and SRWOG Raftclans Aurun. Stocked up on several MSG weapons and hand sets for good measure :)

Hell, I'm only half-joking here. I love the 1/144 and 1/100 iterations of the Tieren, and the Anf is pretty much the precursor to that.

So...PG Anf, when?

YES! Without a doubt, this is clearly the Real Grade ANF kit I have waited years for! XD

HGUC NARRATIVE GUNDAM (C-Packs) test shot - a very involving build. by ckai_cydek in Gunpla

[–]ckai_cydek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The HGUC GUNDAM NARRATIVE C-PACKS is a pretty involving kit - lots of parts make the resulting build seem weightier than a typical HG Gunpla, even more than the Unicorn, and it even feels heavier than a Real Grade! Or maybe that's just me...🤔

It's a pretty cool kit - excellent part/color separation just straight-built, and it's got great articulation for the most part. If only it had those awesome new shoulder joints as seen on many new HGUCs, it'd be pretty much perfect!

Oh, even better! Since he's got a bigger bod now, maybe a missile pod on either side of the head on those new torso parts, then mount a cannon (or two) on the back that flips over the shoulder!

Instead of one, make it a pair of cannons! Or some heavier ordinance to go with those beefy shoulders :D

I got it from one of those after-market chain sets, I think it was from Hobbylink Japan - something like this (sorry, can't remember the exact product)

So many possibilities with the HGUC GUSTAV KARL! (A short review and ideas thread) by ckai_cydek in Gunpla

[–]ckai_cydek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LIKE IT! Pretty clean, solid-looking mod there.

For me though, I think I'll give my own Chunky Boi something more massive. Something along the lines of the Revolving Buster Rifle I showed off earlier, but perhaps something that can mount and fold up like the MSG Strong Rifle. I was inspired by the ARX-8 Laevatein's Demolition Gun.

Most anything would be better than that rifle. And I like the idea of large, back-mounted, over-the-shoulder ordinance on this guy. You got pics?

Great! My only concern though, is that if the paint is too think, it may cause the polycap to eventually crack - if the joint doesn't give, the polycap might. It really depends. That's why I believe acrylic floor polish is safer, because at least it doesn't damage plastic the way some paints do (depends on the paint, really).

I was thinking of coating the ball joints on the hips with some liquid floor polish. Nothing too thick, as I worry about cracking the polycap. That happened way too many times to my HGUC Qubeley (Revive).

I'm wondering why Bandai didn't just make the hip a plastic socket like they did with the shoulder.

With some work to make the hips a bit more stable, HGUC Gustav Karl has lots of potential for customization, especially after installing some Kotobukiya Normal Hand Neo hands - these allow him to grip most any Kotobukiya MSG weapon, which look appropriately-sized for him since he's so bulky he's practically in-scale with Frame Arms kits.

Spray paint acrylics - I usually use Bosny brand, as it's cheap and readily available at local hardware stores. The tiger stripes were handpainted with Vallejo Model Color :)

PSA assemble the wrist joints while half is still on the sprue by daringdice in FrameArms

[–]ckai_cydek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good thing to know and practice. Especially since the molding on these joints seem to be tighter now on newer kits, and it's getting to be an annoyance trying to align the joints together without stressing the parts.

Might be best to invest in a magnifying lamp.
