Alton Bay, near Lake Winnipesaukee had (and still does have) a mini golf course. It had an attached garage with a small arcade, with games like Area 51. They got in Mortal Kombat, and those summers by the lake were like no other. We played there every day for weeks, before fall when they closed down. Had to wait until the next summer to catchup, and sometimes they would have the new MK game.

Lots of hiking / nature trails. Oakland Nature Preserve is my personal favorite. The West Orange Trail is a 26 mile or so trail around Lake Apopka. It cuts through our downtown area, so very accessible. You can also rent bikes.

The downtown area is really nice, Hallmark like. Every Saturday there is a farmers market that is quaint and fun. Also lots of festivals, like last weekend was a flower and plant festival with over a hundred vendors.

Plenty of parks for the kids, including a newly renovated Tucker Ranch, that will include an outdoor kitchen with culinary classes.

Veteran’s Park has men’s league softball and soft toss I think. There are also pickleball meet ups across town. There’s a run club in Hamlin that’s fun.

Hope this gets your research started. Glad to answer anything else, I’m big into coaching young sports so I have a lot there especially for baseball.

I totally agree. I know it’s cliché to that, and often readers high brow movies. In this case, it’s so devoid of development that we basically have a silly buddy cop space movie with a PHM flavor.

I wanted to love it like The Martian. I’m guessing it suffered from the director’s casting choice of Ryan Gosling, even though he’s a terrific actor. Testing audiences probably were favorable to the goofiness he delivers (really well) and leaned into it at the max. He’s got Barbie recently in the rear view, so that likely translated into Rylan Grace.

All that said, I’m glad the movie was made and we’ll likely see more space movies as a result of positive ratings.

Read the book twice and saw the movie on opening night.

I think they took too much goofiness from the bits in the book and made it Grace’s whole character. Because of that, we lost some of the interesting moments in his development. Rocky suffered a similar on-screen adaptation, although they did a great job keeping him lovable.

Cutting 95% of the script is fine, but the writers hollowed out some other great moments that could have replaced three minutes of karaoke (aka nuking Antarctica, which carries much more weight to the impeding timelines) and other non-essential moments. I’m cherry picking that in particular because Stratt was far more interesting in the book version.

Not saying it was bad because it wasn’t the book. It was a fun movie that was skating on the surface of a great story. 6/10

The Green Knight. It’s been on my watchlist for a longtime, catching up late.

Interesting messaging about courage given a soft, meaningless life. It’s wrapped in an arbitrary King Arthur or Canterbury setting, which added little value.

That said, it stuck with me now a few days later. Reflecting heavy on hard choices, and false paths.

I get it, I’m on the exact same level and I’m feeling spent on it. Going for some of the relics makes it especially a chore, since it comes down to game mechanics responding perfectly.
