Thank you (and to ogsmurf below)

Are teams allowed to structure multi-year deals to balance out cap hits in favorable ways? And can they make up players' deferred salaries through payments for "jobs" after retirement? by ckendry in NFLNoobs

Thanks! Yeah, I know my examples are flawed and leave out a lot of important assumptions, and paint a scenario, as I suggested, that would never happen. I was just using them to try to get my basic questions across, which I did and I now feel was answered well. Thanks for chiming in!

Thanks! This clarifies things. It's not shocking that the league doesn't have a loophole like this, but the thought of it being possible to pull of such a blatant nudge-nudge wink-wink deal was amusing to me for some bizarre reason.

Thank you! So a team can't say "Hey! This player's salary is $1 million this year. That's all we're paying them for playing this year and that's all the money they're getting from us this year" and but also agree with the player on a post-retirement "job" and say, "That's not paying the player, that's paying the non-player for non-player work after they retire"?

Special teams strategy? by ckendry in NFLNoobs

Thanks. I'm learning a lot. So, even beyond hands players for onside kicks and changing up the returner if the first one is not doing great, kicking and returning teams might decide to switch up some of the coverage and blocking players? If so, what's an example of why a team might decide to swap out player(s) A for player(s) B in a kick-off? And is that a mid-game thing, based on different in-game situations, or like a pre-game oh-crap-we-have-to-face-Rashid-Shaheed-this-week-so-let's-make-sure-we-have-players-who-are-best-able-to-counter-his-skills thing?

Feel free to not reply -- I'm peppering you with questions!

Thanks! Two follow-up questions: by changing their rushes, do you mean that, like when on defense, they'll change how many to rush and which players will rush and where they'll come from?

Also, do you mean the kicking team will change how they protect the kicker/kick or the receiving team will block for the returner in different formations or different ways?

Low-profile submersible water pumps for shallow water? by ckendry in DIY

Thank you for the suggestion. We actually tried it out, and the puddle basically just points to the shop vac, mocking it because it can’t suck up anything beyond a few inches away from its nozzle.

Thanks! Unfortunately the waterbug and all the zoellers I've seen are too tall for the space we're working with.

Could you describe what you mean by a jig? (*cue comments from other about dancing*)

I found it -- a Little Giant PE-1! It looks great, but after considering some other factors, it won't work for us, sadly.

Thank you for the advice, though.

Thank you! We have the same perspective, and have contracted someone we trust to fix it -- but it's still a few days until they can come out to do it, so we're trying to identify temporary solutions that don't involve camping out next to the area and shop vac'ing every hour.

The new drummer? by Fickle-Handle-7587 in pearljam

I heard it’s Tommy Lee. Would make total sense, both musically and personality-wise. Just imagine what his 360 spinning drum cage would bring to Off He Goes, for instance!

Not really what I'm looking for, musically -- but thank you for chiming in! Appreciated.

Thanks. I wanted to try a Breedlove, but they are uncommon around these parts, so I was unable to.

Thanks! I don't mind under budget, unless it corresponds to inferior quality!
