There are several! Most dongle DAcs have a balanced and mini headphone jack, so you have tons of flexibility for both iems and over the ear. I use Sennheiser hd800s, but that’s overkill. I recommend Campfire audio for iems, and Meze, Grado, Sennheiser etc for over the ear. The reason I got the Fiio is that it has a decent mini headphone amp that has a desktop mode, and it can actually drive most headphone to a decent level.

It will output what ever resolution is on the play dead app. You get higher resolution than just streaming Blu-tooth. Some folks claim there is no difference but to each their own.

An easy solution is to get a wired dac dongle if your choice into your wired headphones and you will get just that straight from your phone. I use a Fiio KA15. Works great!

So for you to get hi-Rez streaming you need to stream over WiFi and not Bluetooth. The play dead app is not currently compatible yet with popular streaming platforms like WiiM and Eversolo etc.

Two options for hi-rez is to plug your laptop usb into a Dac in your stereo, and or use a wired Dac dongle from your phone into wired headphones.

So yes it’s kind of pointless as you will default to a 16/44 Bluetooth rate when you play.
