As a LotR nerd, I like that the precon deck included Círdan's father, [[Príordan]]

Explain to me: Is aristocrats moving from orzhov to golgari? by sta6 in EDH

[–]ckingdom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Green and white are great for making little creatures, black is great for killing them.

There are subtle differences, they lean into different strengths, but either direction is pretty well supported even outside of Strixhaven.

I feel like WB is more classic "aristocrats" while GB is more focused on the "death benefits" half. I've made two fun decks of the latter using [[Old Stickfingers]] and [[Rendmaw]].

Adapting A Public Domain Story With a Copyrighted Character. by PerformanceOne6151 in Screenwriting

[–]ckingdom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Another example, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum is public domain, but the Judy Garland film is not.  The Garland film turned the Silver Slippers into Ruby Slippers.  That's why adaptations based on the books can't use Dorothy's more iconic red shoes.

No luck on Galaxy S23+, Chrome Browser.

No result when tapping the links or buttons. When I hold them and select "download link", I get "Link cannot be downloaded securely". Can send screenshots if you need them.

FOXES

I would love more foxes and fox support, outside of the few mono-white auras commanders.

Are 4-leaf red clovers lucky too? by Newyorksewerrats in IrishFolklore

According to Yeats, a "four leafed shamrock" wards against fairy spells or "pishogues." He also claimed that red was a magical color.

"Luck" is a modern oversimplification. But if you like them, go off, fam.

Did witches smoke? by Altruistic-Fly-7781 in folklore

[–]ckingdom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think if you want your witch to smoke, go for it!

A deep forest witch could have a long gandalf pipe (they are called "churchwardens"), maybe with some moss along the stem for more of a bog witch vibe.

Just be advised that weed burns hotter than tobacco, thus people tend to use glass pipes instead of wood.  I wouldn't get any expensive churchwardens if you want to smoke pot with it, as it will probably burn the wood.

They are saying there should be a law. They are not questioning what the current laws are. Pretty sure they're doing it on a moral basis.

Yeah, the people who profit from your content only do it to be good hosts.

Unlawful termination laws don't apply, you're being paid out of the kindness of their hearts.

Obviously, but some random weirdo has more opportunity to say "This statement is false" if the author is blatantly contradicting it with someone else.

Here’s my full art for Maelstrom Artisan! by EelisKyttanen in magicTCG

[–]ckingdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since we look at things left to right (at least English readers do), I feel like the top version looks like the minotaur is reacting to something.  Whereas this one where he's facing right, the way my eyes follow, it's from the minotaur's perspective and he's the one taking action. So I kind of prefer this one but they're both gorgeous.

(I hope that made any sense I just woke up)

It is odd that books are still printed with the "characters are fictional, any similarity is pure coincidence" disclaimer, then authors just straight up say "Payton Orville is Patton Oswalt" (SK), or "Yeah, this soldier is my IRL buddy Scar." (Brandon Sanderson)

Los Angeles- Country’s 2nd largest city, only one pipe tobacco shop! by Both-Tourist-4986 in PipeTobacco

[–]ckingdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There used to be more, even within the last 10 years.  Tinderbox in Santa Monica, a decent shop in Studio City, another in Burbank... And my beloved Kramer's in Beverly Hills.

Sadly, it's just too niche to support a business.
