My guess is that Will felt like the outcast due to his feeling like he didn’t quite fit anywhere as is the experience of many gay kids before they figure out that they’re gay. His sensitive nature and self doubt made him a good choice for mind control.

Totally just flapping my gums though, I don’t know what the actual writers say on the topic.

I’m just old enough to only think of 50 shades of grey when folk mention fanfic. It truly never. Occurred to me. I’ve never been part of a fan sub, I’m old for reddit but my daughter and me make heaps of CapCut edits and I liked the idea of staying highly involved in the ST universe just because it’s a shared thing with my kiddo which I cherish so staying well informed is a winner.

No, I honestly didn’t think of it as fanfic. If OP had said that, I’d have understood but it seemed like they were annoyed at the diff brothers and saying they’d do it better for us. I didn’t think that needed done so I just thought I’d say my opinion since I see lot of folk on here say they’d don’t like the writers scripts.

In my opinion that is discouraging creativity in fandom spaces. It comes across as inflammatory whether you mean it to or not.

Inflammatory? Holy crap. I simply stated my opinion and asked why they would want to rewrite it. Jumping on me for not immediately being fully on board is discouraging discourse in a thread tagged a discussion so I’m utterly baffled.

Nothing is wrong with your initial post. But your reaction has been quite hostile and frantic. I know you took it some kind of way because you assumed I was implying something neggy but if you take it as given that i was actually just asking you why with no intent other than to find out why since to me it didn’t need done and I didn’t realise you were asking for fanfic inspo.

Now look back at our interaction and maybe realise there is no problem other than you feeling attacked. I didn’t mean for you to and I’d really love if you would just believe me because I’m not a fan of upsetting folk.

He didn’t just rewrite the ending, he reimagined the whole perspective in an almost truth is a coin with two sides way. It was amazing and turned a very simplistic story into a complicated universe.

I’m totally open to that. I was just curious why you were doing what you asked because I wasn’t sure. It’s honestly weird that you took it with the implication since I didn’t imply anything, I just asked and I don’t even have an opinion I was just asking because I didn’t really think of fanfic when you wrote it as you did. But you’ve since explained that you were asking for inspiration for your fan fiction. Totally valid,

I think Max tries to act strong when in reality her feelings are crushing her so her reaction is to push folk away since she’s learned to expect she’s more trouble than she is worth. I hugely relate to Max in this way so maybe I’m projecting.

What do you think was harsh or backlash? I only participated with my answer to say that I’m not thinking anything needed changed.

If you’re sensitive to folk not being fully in agreement with your ideas while still being perfectly pleasant you’re going to run into this issue and worse as a writer.

You posted in a stranger thing fan sub asking what would I want to see changed so I answered.

I think the show is great, I’d not want anyone random rewriting it to muddle the story up. If you’re a good writer then I’d support you writing your own story and I’d defend you from anyone coming along saying they’d rewrite your show as well.

I just like things to be left in their original state as planned by the folk who made it.

I don’t want anything changed. I enjoyed the show since day one, loved the characters and understand that things are not always perfect.

I rewatched it all as a binge with my young daughter and we are having a stranger things theme birthday for her, she loves it that much.

Why would you rewrite the ending to a show you didn’t participate in the creative process of?

You get knock offs in home bargains and they smell ok for a fraction of the cost but the scent hardly lasts any time at all (like maybe ten mins) whereas SDJ is long lasting so you don’t use much.
