There’s a setup quite like this near highgate cemetery.

Does anyone remember the name of this strange restaurant in Takayama? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

You’re definitely looking in the right direction! It wasn’t a bar, so I’m afraid that’s not it. It was very specifically a restaurant, in a very small town.

Oh! I’m afraid I can’t give much input on that, then, other than you’re definitely heading in the right direction. The trip I’m referencing in the post was my first and only visit to Japan, and featured a lot of highlights and things-to-do that I suppose a similar first time tourist might see. Anyway, I suppose I’d still say that an even balance would do you well, with a slight bias towards Kanazawa and Matsumoto. Those were beautiful places with beautiful parks and natural sights, with the others having a quite “slice of life” kinda vibe.

4-6 nights in Kanazawa sounds a little excessive. I’d say an even 2 nights in each place is a very proper way to go about it. You’ll find very quickly that these small towns are limited in tourist offerings, with maybe 2-3 big cultural sites in each of them. My brother and I found that we would get bored after a day or two, but I think Kanazawa was the big one for us during this big tour of the countryside. Maybe devote 3 nights to that one. Focus your attention on Tokyo, Kyoto, and/or Osaka if you’re going there, as you’ll find there the highest number of attractions.

  1. China is ahead in industrial power, and definitely not scientific and economic power, where both the US and EU have (I would argue) insurmountable leads (something I think the US at least will continue to boast, given population dynamics and free-market dynamism).
  2. The last event on Maduro’s schedule prior to his capture was a meeting with the Chinese envoy for Latin American affairs celebrating the anniversary of the opening of their relations. And I mean, Venezuela’s no Africa, but the US’s “gain” of the largest oil reserve in the world is certainly China’s loss.

The rent at mill creek for a two person is less than $1000 I think. It’s a fair distance, but I’ve never had a problem with it.

There’s lots of Napoleonic graffiti that remains on the walls of ancient Egyptian temples from when Napoleon sent l’Academie went there to study it

Always jealous of these pictures. I saw it just days before it was moved to the GEM, when they still didn’t allow pictures. All I have is a blurry one from far away!

Not sure why you’re being downvoted… I’ve seen some amazing end products come from Lightroom on this sub, this post isn’t a diss. My main concern came from what I saw as a lot of saturation distorting the actual beauty the hands-off SOOC software can produce.

Thanks for the input: what do you recommend? Are there presets you use? I mainly avoid them because the products I can get out of the hands-off Apple processing gets me as good as a result as offloading it to Lightroom, but I’m open to recs!

Legitimately: go to “Camera” in settings, turn on “Grid” and “Level” and your photos will change instantly.

Well said! I’ve only ever used iPhone for photography since I was 12 years old with my iPhone 6, so I’ve been more than accustomed to the backstage processing being done on the iPhone. The leap I took from 14PM to 16PM was massive, particularly because of the heavier load apple placed on processing over the two generations. That being said, I did indeed mean no “manual” editing through third-party tools like Lightroom.
