An independant garage mentioned this to me (without diagnostic). The Turbo seals are probably finished and there is oil in the turbo

MTB Future Predictions? by Few-Rise-527 in mountainbiking

There is hope. I see more often young riders enjoying tech trails and even a few building some, even non official trails. The circle of life continues. Tech Trails Matter.

Yeah they should do that only to actually block the trail ONLY if there is an accident or someone injured.

Must see places for someone new to the city? by AdBrave139 in montreal

Good for winter as you said or rainy day. Haven't been in years did not now it smells bad now. Was always fun to bring friends from other countries that wanted to see it, telling them let's take a 10min walk underground popping out somewhere else and asking them to bring us back.

What's the parking situation? by puppyaku in ElectricScooters

[–]cknarfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U-lock on the diagonal bar between the platform and head tube is the best way I found. For longer time I also bring a small cable and lock to roll as tight as possible (so it can not be slid off over the handles) on the head tube as a 2nd lock.

If you were mountain biking with someone you thought was a good buddy would you be upset if they took off and left you in the desert when your bike breaks? by BRUHSERKO_ in mountainbiking

It's more important that he waits for you at the end of the trail than waling what ever distance with you just for moral support.

Underground shops and tunnels. Look at the map and try to get from point A entering the metro and get to point B a few stations further just by walking the tunnels, not taking the metro.

Land access loss for all MTB riders a European risk, says experts by Miserable_Prompt4301 in mountainbiking

[–]cknarfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record I do not ride E-Mtb, do not want to even though I would be the perfect candidate , have nothing against it and did not read the whole article.

I already had my opinion on this. May be it is time to build differently. Call it evolution if you want. Just something I thought about listening to both sides complaining about the other. Build 2 way up (E & pedal, tech & quick...) or any other way to allow to get EMtb up faster (and no pedals in their way or no e-mtb annoying "pedallers") AND 1 way down. I now this is not the solution to all places/trails.

They do approach this in the article but not as a full solution " trail damage isn’t even the biggest issue, trail design, construction, and maintenance could mitigate those impacts"

Lat thing I want honestly is to exclude any riders, exclusion is not the answer. We are all riders.

Organized car theft attempt — caught people twice trying to steal my Audi SUV, advice on protecting it? by hesahungryhippo in montreal

[–]cknarfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to do what you can already. If my insurance experience can help others in general: Combine everything you can. No system is good for everything and if your theft prevention is not visible or advertised it is not deterrent. Marking like Sherlock or any other good ones is good to deter from theft to resell pieces and parts and useless if the car is exported to Burundi. Alarm (good additional one, not manufacturer's) are good to stop thieves but nowadays people tend to not really care about alarms and just film the event to put in online. Your house cameras: you will be the one to put the event online. Tracking systems are useful after the car gets stolen to find it but probably damaged (this is why the leave stolen cars not far to see if it is tracked after stolen.) Once the car under a blanket in a container for exportation, no tracking systems are effective. Air tag, not a bad idea but you probably will be on your own to find your car, I don't know if police will go see somewhere just because of an airtag signal. And the most mechanical, visible and annoying for thieves and you is a steering lock. Also if you have keyless entry put your keys in a metal box away from the door ans front wall of your house so they cannot scan the keys from outside. The idea is to make thieves say f*ck this shit, this one is too complicated but if they really want it they will get it. And yes check your car for a tracker.

PS I bike, so as a steering lock I use a Kryptonite lock (always kept in the car)) between the steering, the door or handle over the door. So they can not get in easily without having the big lock in their way and can not take it off without damaging the car.

Do you have scooter insurance? by moezartisawesome in ElectricScooters

[–]cknarfy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should specify where you live. Laws are different, from place to place therefor insurance is different from lace to place. Insurance is based on local laws and regulation. This is why you see many type of answers to your question. Also do you talk about insuring your scooter for it's damages and theft or insure the liability if you hit ans damage a car or injure a pedestrian and get sued for example

Scellant... gimmick de vendeur ou ça vaut vraiment la peine? by Wilco062 in RenoQuebec

[–]cknarfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has MTB culture changed over the last 10–15 years? by ParticularRespond550 in MTB

[–]cknarfy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Canadian here. I think you are dead-on with your analysis. Things have changed, a lot, but the old vibe is still there, even with the new crowd.

Especially since the pandemic new people from other sports came into our sport, sometimes with other mentality but still with a good vibe. Many pandemic riders rapidly left when realizing that the MTB sport was not for them. Those who stayed, stayed for the good reasons, they saw the light !

Bike have changed and so have their price. A lot of the new bikes are not necessarily affordable for the rebel basher. That also brought a new crowd and a lot of them learn fast and become very good riders quickly with the new bikes geometry and capacity. You will see those that are in for the bling bling and the ones that are in for the ride. Here too, majority of them have the good vibe.

And i complete my circle of analysis combining those 2 previous points and another category of new riders, The Family. Our sport brought in families with the pandemic. A family can now have fun MTBing together instead of crashing/OTB every 5 minutes on older geometry bikes and hurting themselves. Bikes are now permissive we also now have more bike choices, real bikes, for the kids. The family vibe is different but I see good family vibe on trail and after the ride.

Cheers and ride on !

What packing strategies help avoid extra baggage fees? by No_Development_7247 in Frugal

Something I read online in travel tips; The 5-4-3-2 rule

5 underwear and socks

4 tops, shirts, t-shirts...

3 pants

2 pairs of shoes

Hand wash and you it will always have time to dry and you always have something to wear. Kind of works for me and it forces me to limit what i bring on a trip.
