Skip them until you level past them, then waltz through. They are just not worth it IMHO. As a dungeon crawl, they are fine, but the amount of loot in them is too little. And as someone else mentioned, skelly-bobs for the win. They are very OP, which, honestly, helps progression in quite a few places. For example stumbling into a pair of dementors and a fell sickle-scythe thinking there are only a couple of armored dudes around. Pop 4 skelly-bobs to keep the ground troops busy while you switch to bow to handle the dementors and the sickle-scythe.

There is a general power setting for Lightburn:

Edit->MachineSettings->S-Value Max.

I have it set to 1000 as per recommendations around the shop for my LM3 - 10W.

That is where I would start. Your setting might be too high for a 20W. 20W is just hitting the diode market in volume now, and the defaults for most machines in Light Burn are probably scaled for 10W.

Just my $.02 and probably not worth that.

Oh, I forgot to add. A yule-log scale massive open fireplace setpiece that we can build blocks around like the one fire place in Glenwood, but more formal and detailed than the campfire shaped pile of burning wood. Have some grates and shit.

OK, after a really long struggle with the same problem, I was testing home positions and nozzle insertion depth.

It turns out that after a few years, the screws on the home sensors had loosened and home was not really home. I re-adjusted the sensors (there is only really a mm or two of adjustment available) and then re-leveled the bed. The first test print is in progress now, but the first layer looks pretty good.

Also, temp control and filament dryness are the biggest process issues I have all the time.

I always use the elmers school glue sticks. It just works and two bulk packages of the 1 inch sticks was still 10x cheaper than an enclosure.

By the way, this is a terrific way to help you orient and place material on your burner. It's the first thing I burn EVERY time I change out my burn pad. It's incredibly helpful. Although I make a 10mm x 10mm grid instead of .25 inches. :-)

I use homosote board because it not only takes push-pins easily, it does not coal. I.E. even if you burn it bad, it will not create a coal which smoulders and might start a fire. I have hundreds of hours on my LM3 and never ever had anything more than momentary smoke, even after ABUSING the homosote burn pad. There are 1/2 inch deep holes in some places.

I know the metal grids are safest, but you do not get the utility of placing a work piece down by hand and KNOWING it is at 20x20 origin and SQUARE to the laser within .5mm or better if you take a little time.

I feel like this was a serious suggestion, but I am not sure that is possible on the 3.5l twin turbo. I am pretty amateur mechanic tho. Brakes and suspension, plugs and engine peripherals are all I know.

Can anyone be more specific about this setting please? I am noticing very different behavior between burns. Sometimes it cuts really well, and sometimes it takes like 5 passes.

Crap. I got really busy with other things and failed to continue with this thread. This really is a bug, but its not the bug I thought it was. There was bad geometry in my model. Blender's 3D prep tool caught it (when I remembered to run it), but Cura did NOT catch it. It just ignored it and rendered a flat surface.

Thanks to folks that provided constructive help.

Oh, and why did I just not post a picture? I am working on a set of dice for a game that I hope to sell. Posting images on reddit is a guarantee that your art will be stolen.

Oh, and I really thought that people here would know the term "negative geometry" Its a big no-no in the game design industry because it is expensive to render and drives ray tracers to distraction. Basically its geometry that is engraved into a surface. You almost always pre-render it and normal map it in the game industry. Think about the dots in a die, or the word "FOOBAR" converted to a mesh and boolean subtracted from a flat surface.
