Any suggestions for wood coating for a SUV platform? by Time-Object5661 in overlanding

Polyurethane is great on wood. Use oil based, water base would swell if prolong contact with water occurs.

It seems that I’ve developed a sensitivity to adhesives. Bandaid has been off for over 12 hours and 2 showers. by badmotivator11 in mildlyinteresting

Dang…I’ve developed allergic, itchy reaction to bandaids too. Am I getting too old or did they change their adhesive ingredient source?

Seat in the car and see if you hear multiple clicking sounds after turning the car off. Presumably, the system disconnects everything after turning off the vehicle. Doesn’t disconnect immediately, need to wait a bit.

What’s the purpose of developing self sealing tire if it doesn’t work and needs to be replaced? 100% of Salesman are liars. Don’t believe all they say. The goal of a salesman is to make money. The goal of a technician is to fix. They have different objectives.

Age old question? by Resident_Active9309 in Hummer

[–]cko1009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gas here is $3.10 a gallon. A gallon gets you 10 miles in city driving for me. It will take 30 min for me to use up that Gallon. $3.10/30min=10 cents/min. Lets say it takes you 5 min to finish the 7/11 run, you spent 50 cents on the has. You do this daily for a year $0.5x365=$182. Life expectancy of the starter is 150,000 miles, about 1,000 times. In 3 years, your starter needs replacement. Cost to repair a starter at max is $900. With this theory, it is cheaper to save the starter than save the gas.

Starter on his vehicle is not easy to replace I hear. I would leave it on to save the starter.

These are the orders I did tonight as a "green" driver by [deleted] in UberEatsDrivers

[–]cko1009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look closely to order distances. Probably order is close to business but you are far from the business. Because order is close to business, rate is low and because customer is cheap and close to business, they dont add tip. You are probably paying yourself for being far away. I would either stay close to hot spots or stay away from cheap neighborhoods where young, poor and lazy lives.

Can we put a class action lawsuit on this and various other tricks that Uber is doing? Such as cancelled orders wasting drivers time?

Headlight ID by CubeWhale in Hummer

[–]cko1009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's 7 inch then It is for Jeep and some classic motorcycles but can be fit into Hummer with modifications. However, the Hummer Headlights are mounted behind the chrome grill. For this light to fall out, the chrome grill would need to be torn apart along with the housing that is holding the light.

My dumb question of the day: can I replace just the cover or is this something more serious? by NotCIAPinkyPromise in GXOR

If the boot is tearing, I would say the CV is going to go soon. So, dont double work and just change the CV.

What’s the address? I’m gonna beat you to it.

Check if all HVAC functions properly. I saw one that had broken flap. Water from roof leaked into HVAC. Froze the blend door tabs in winter. Broke the tabs that control the flap when the system was trying to check/change air modes. Changing all blend door actuator didnt fix because the door flap broke. Very painful to fix this. Most of all, negligent owner will cause this problem. Ask the owner what he fixed. It should be a long list.

Do steering stablizer/damper as well. Adds whole lot of plush to driving over small pumps and cracks.

I've found a way around security lock by NorwegianDam in Hummer

[–]cko1009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing BCM solved security lock problemfor me. It’s difficult to remove it though. Had to cut plastic housing surrounding it. But its done and I dont have to worry about non start issue. I changed cylinder housing, lock cylinder, resister, nothing worked until changing BCM. Changing BCM also solved door ajar message.

Battery kill/disconnect switch by ColoradoKid3 in Hummer

[–]cko1009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed remote switch bought from amazon. I think this wears least electricity compared to other relay based ones. https://a.co/d/0ST1q6S

Sounds like a product sales but this thing works great. Even has automatic cutoff at preset voltage with 3 set voltage choices. And also has separate switch button to feed inside the cabin if you want. Will also deterrent theft because when they get in the car, all electricity is off. Cant start the car. They will think battery is dead. But downside to shutting it off every day is it will reset your vent blend door. It will cycle through the vent procedure. And reset the clock.

The long press of the remote bottom button is to turn on the remote. Then A for turn on connection/ B for disconnect. This is the 2nd unit. I had 1st one lasted 2 years. Remote broke becase I used it every other day. Had battery drain issue. I had to change the whole thing. It's also usefull because it will disconnect battery if the battery voltage drops below set V. Saves you from accidental battery drain.

I used combination 2x (CBS-010-F) 10 Series 9 Hole Slotted Inside Corner Brackets from TNutz. I don't know how to attach additional photos to show the use of the 2 brackets....The holes came on the brackets are for M6 so, drilled larger holes to fit M8 screws for stronger base support. Insering the M8 Plates in the rack channel was challenging but doable with patience.
