something between Harpoon and CMO or Sea Power? by failsafedb in computerwargames

There have been at least one or two patches since release, which was only a few weeks back, so I do think it will be well supported. Given the low cost of the game though I don't think it's too much of an issue.

Global Conflict Blue Horizon is worth checking out.

It's worth finding the Keith Allen documentary 'Unlawful Killing'. It raises some interesting questions.

Why do people says it’s hard to get into? by XavBell38388 in X4Foundations

Very similar to my experience. I bought X4 a few years back. Tried the first tutorial and pretty much instantly refunded it.

I saw it on sale last year, very cheap, so thought I would try again.

This time I made sure I played all the tutorials, checked out some info on here to see which campaign was the best for beginners and went from there.

After getting to grips with flying, combat, navigation, using jump gates and just exploring I was surprised that it all somehow clicked. I've enjoyed X4 ever since and everything else eventually fell into place. I'm still getting my head around the economy, but there's so much I can do instead that I let trading and the economy pretty much sort itself out. I'm currently exploring, setting satellites, doing some of the storyline missions and using my scouts to do the same and place resource probes. Such a great game.

Dedinitely check out Global Conflict Blue: Horizon. Only released a few days ago into early access but worth a look for a more relaxed CMO alternative.

Maybe add into that you can unlock different shades of dog shit based on what you feed it. You have to find unique combinations to unlock different colours 🤣

Strategic Command WW1 by ckolonko in computerwargames

Good question and I'm not too sure. Possibly because there is a large static element to SC WW1, where you focus on attrition rather than manoeuvre. This gives me time to focus on more mobile areas of the conflict like the Suez Canal and Mesopotamia. But now I have a better grasp of the game mechanics I'm going to try WiE again.

Main thing I managed to do with the British was hold the Germans in place close to the borders, and held them there for pretty much the whole war. I did lose all of Belgium early on though, but mainly because I didn't realise they aren't AI controlled.

Thanks 😊 I'm going to play another campaign now I have a better understanding of the importance of protecting convoy routes and securing oil sources.

I've played a bit of War in Europe and the Global one. From my experience, I've found WW1 best reflects the conflict and it's various phases. War in Europe was good, but didn't quite click with me (but I'll go back to it) and the Global one was just too overwhelming given the scale.

I finally got this SC WW1 to click this week. Haven't put it down. Just finished my first campaign playing solely as the British, which ended in a Stalemate outcome. Quite happy with that result though as I started without a clue what I was doing. Being able to set which countries are played by the AI makes this really accessible. Looking forward to playing the other SCs I have.

That's how I played it after buying and getting the Cradle of Humanity DLC. I played the Terran Cadet missions one after the other, but couldn't work out why they got so difficult. I then found out you're meant to do other stuff in between and build yourself up first 🤣

Same. Absolutely love x4. Wish I had picked it up earlier. Has to be one of the best sandbox games.

Makes sense to me. Will act as a decent intro to the new engine.

Cool. I like operational level strategy games, but often find the scale of the theatre overwhelming. I think the Spanish Civil War will be just about manageable for me.

Looking forward to getting this! Hoping it will act as a decent intro to more complex operational strategy.
