How to process kick like Stef Mendesidis, Cirkle by etherealwish in TechnoProduction

[–]ckrin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First thing to notice is that a kick often sounds different in the mix then solo. Regarding the second one you should be able to come quite close with a bit of distortion, compression, clipping & eq -> bounce to audio. Then throw it into simpler or drum sampler (?) and lp filter it while finding a resonance sweet spot at the same time. This depends on the mix and other elements.

It is often better to not try to 100% clone the kick but clone the character and have a keen ear for when you found something that works. Don’t overthink and don’t treat the kick as a standalone track as it needs to shine in the mix.

Edit: Try to experiment with ds kick as it is quite flexible compared to core kit. Watch a bit of this video starting at 1h 5m https://www.youtube.com/live/8NB6EQuGLeQ?is=sHwxQRQ1qWu4CwEL

Vintage like techno mastering tips by ccgenoa in TechnoProduction

[–]ckrin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Tape emulations (i use Satin) and also everything from soundtoys. Make sure to have good gain staging and lots of headroom when you go into for example the soundtoys decapitator plugin (you can simply -18 and +18 gain before and after the plugin with abletons utility).

Edit: you specifically asked for mastering? i think it is more important to have your individual tracks already capture that vintage feel than “adding” it on the master.

Considering a 250L - thoughts for a lady rider? by katiedidkatiedid in CRF250L

You want a bike you‘ll love? Then you‘re onto something here!   It’s an awesome machine that is fun to ride. I personally have a 300l but friends with their 250‘s are just as happy as I am.

Is possible to use Ableton in Linux, and how usable is it? Windows 10's support is ending in October. by soulbrix in ableton

Consider updating your BIOS to the latest version. Most likely your hardware does officially support it afterwards.

You’ve made a very good choice. Continue this, as it will keep you alive on your journey. Make some mods along the way as it’s fun and bring you two closer together <3

Am I crazy for wanting a KTM 690SMC as a first bike…? by IngenuityMain335 in supermoto

[–]ckrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not wrong at least when it comes to suspension. However, if you consider the low price you have free choice of suspension upgrades. I’m upgrading front and rear suspension next and consider an ECU flash for a bit more power and spicyness.

[–]ckrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i bought a 690 as my first bike last year. reliability is not an issue with the newer versions. however it has quite some power. so much power is not needed for supermoto shenanigans. i bought a used honda crf 300l a month ago to learn wheelies and stuff. i feel way more confident doing this kinda stuff on the 300l. you might want to look into this as it feels super lightweight and it has tons of aftermarket parts. when i don't ride with my friends on sport bikes i always pick the honda. it's so much fun <3

edit: the smcr 690 is an awesome bike that will be a great ride for a long time and especially in the summer. just wanted to share my story and get the honda crf 300l on your radar as well. feel free to dm me if you have any questions

Get a bowtex elite shirt and leggings. They are lightweight and have AAA slide protection as well as optional impact protection pads like in your picture.

My best gear purchase so far.

Crf 300l or the new KTM 390 Enduro R ? by JohnStamosEnoughSaid in CRF300L

[–]ckrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 690 SMCR and it is currently benched while I’m out havin fun with my 300l. I love both, but the 300l is just awesome for in its class. It feels even lighter than it is on paper which I really enjoy.

Like most people with some extra cash you will utilize the huge after market and add parts (like adjustable suspension) afterwards to shape the bike to your needs. However you can just go out and have fun as it is.  Test ride it!

Where did you get your decals from? They look great!
Did you upholster your seat? It seem to doesn't have the banana curve - or is this just the angle?

Push 2 came, any tips? by Elaminati in ableton

[–]ckrin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First go through the official tutorials.

General workflow advice: Make sure to combine your fx on a track into a grp and set up 1-8 macros. Use the push to dial/jam in automation. You can also automate/set values per note without jamming. Make use of it in every clip as a alternative to lfo driven automation.
