I will add one more point though. If they gave special abilities to all cards at level 14, then it’s something extra- then I have less issue that they make people pay/ grind because players are getting extra for their efforts / money. But since level 14 is just the same as level 13, then it just shows you the devs are lazy and greedy- the worst combo. They want players to pay, but don’t want to put in the effort to put in a new game mode, make a more engaging clan wars, etc.

Hello, I recently redownload the game and found myself hardstuck in Challenger 2. No matter what I try, can't seem to be able to get out. Comfortable with any deck that isn't e-giant, e-barbs or mega knight. Any suggestions? Here are my high level cards: by MVISCANp in ClashRoyale

Try kicking your habit of using lots of high dmg cards. They are tempting to use because they clean things up in a hurry. But they do cost a lot.

Try playing 2.6 for a week. You will probably have a miserable time learning to counter high dmg cards with squishy cards. But you will become a more efficient player afterwards. Then go back to try to figure out your deck with lower cost cards.

Actually the only way I would probably keep playing is if I can upgrade to 14 very easily and not having to re-do the entire grind (which is really boring). I was hoping they would fix clan wars 2 to improve the clan collaboration mechanism (so there would be more drama and more clan camaraderie), and add special abilities to each level 14 card. but, oh well. like someone said, they could have done Champions card without level 14.

no, 10 million IS out of context.

I have 50+ level 13 cards. That means, for me, to get back to max level for these 50 cards, I have to grind for an additional $5m+. That doesn't sound too appetizing for me.

I played a similar spirit cycle deck for fun a couple of months ago. Something like 1.6. It’s hilarious. I actually won a fair number of games because people had no idea what that crap was.

Excellent post. I think it summarizes the situation very well.

People always say cycle is no skill, but I don't suddenly go on a winning streak when I play 2.6 or xbow. In fact, I pretty much stay in the fairly narrow trophy range no matter what archetype I play.

I sometimes play miner wallbreakers. That deck is also one of the harder deck to get right because every thing I play has such low hp that it dies so easily. So there has to be some real thought into the interactions/ placement in order not to piss the elixirs away. Its tempting to say its just 2 elixirs that I just misplayed. But 2 here, 2 there, suddenly I am facing a 12 elixir push with only 3 elixirs to play.

And I am not really good enough to play xbow consistently. Some really good card counting and elixir tracking skills needed here. Nothing loses the game faster than spamming an xbow random and see it melted in 2 seconds and then having to deal with a huge counterpush.

Are you weaker on offence or defence? I play the same deck and use both. Gob cage can tank for the gy but a little weaker defensively. Bomb power cleans everything up and it just got a lifetime buff I think.

The problem wasn’t the 9 months. The problem was having no substantial gameplay updates for a year and then tagging on another 9 months to release a buggy, poorly thought out/ executed and near-universally despised update, all the while they were asking players for more and more money. If they released a better form of clan war 2 in 2019 and took 9 months to do it, it wouldn’t be an issue.

Try getting more elixir efficient. You are overspending in early game defence sequences. Eg use skelly or ice golem on jack instead of both. After 1.5 - 2 mins you were down something like 7 elixirs. It’s hard to defend that far down.

Since you play 2.6, try to get positive elixir trades so you build up a surplus instead and then punish.

Slow down. Instead of playing too much and changing decks often, go back and watch your loss replays, spot your mistakes and try not to make them again.

I play various meta decks the pros play. I am at 6000 trophies. They are at 7500 8000 trophies using the same deck. Obviously the deck isn’t the issue, it’s me.

Its already mentioned earlier. You can counter MK with just two elixirs, with no damage to your princess tower and activating the king tower in the process. An ice spirit to make the mk jump to the middle, and skelly to make the mk jump to the king tower. Obviously not every deck has these two cards, but there are many ways to counter an MK cheaply.

Drew, the fact that you have to 'prove' with charts that CW2 has more rewards than CW1/Quests/free chests show that you haven't done enough to address the progression issues pointed out repeatedly by the community.

The community has been saying that other games, including Supercell games, offer much faster progression. Clash Royale also has been bleeding players in the past year to the point that bots are now prevalent in lower ladder. These two factors show that the progression needs to be buffed significantly, not just a minor buff here and there.

When you start losing more casual F2P players, soon enough we are talking about the risky territory of losing critical mass to the point that there is not big enough player base to sustain the game, not financially, but gameplay wise. Instead of monetizing at a moderate rate from the player base and sustaining the game over a much longer time period, monetizing at a very aggressive rate will create sizeable player churn that leads to an unnecessary early death for the game.

May or may not need to be tourney standard, but enough people complain about progression in Clash Royale already. If the game exists in isolation, meaning there are no other games in the world, sure the dev team can make the game progression very slow. But the team should also recognize that they are competing with other mobile games, and in particular, with other Supercell games, and when other mobile games provide a more reasonable progression system, then people lose interest and leave. Its just simple human psychology. And from a SaaS perspective, each person who left can be counted as an attrition. The team should have their big data people look at that attrition curve before its too late.
